What all do you shave?

So, I got to thinking about it, and I realised that I shave a lot of my body. I shave my legs (up to my knees most days), everything in the nether regions, my armpits, my nipples, my feet, and part of my tummy.

What do you shave?

abaya 05-02-2006 04:42 PM

I shave my pits and lower legs a couple of times a week, if I'm lucky.

*Nikki* 05-02-2006 04:45 PM

Legs
Arms
Everything between my thighs
Under Arms
Toes/Feet

I like to be completely smooth everywhere:)

Sage 05-02-2006 06:31 PM

The usual- Legs, underarms, and Bikini- tho I leave a substantial patch of hair for a "landing pad." I shave everything 1" above my clit all the way to the back.

lilfle 05-02-2006 06:33 PM

legs, armpits, toes (so many people thought i was weird for this?), and bikini

pretty standard i think

snowy 05-02-2006 07:16 PM

Legs, armpits, toes, tops of feet, everything down there

:)

I like to be bare, and yes, I do have a little more hair than most.

StormBerlin 05-02-2006 10:33 PM

Just legs (all the way up to my upper thighs. one wouldn't think hair grew in all different directions until you try and get it off your thighs), underarms, everything between my legs. My hair gets lighter in the summer (a light blonde) so I don't really worry about my arms and what not....

Sugar&Spice 05-02-2006 11:06 PM

My legs..knees and thighs, armpits and leave a small "landing strip" and sometimes shave it all off.

ngdawg 05-03-2006 05:29 AM

Nipples?
It all comes off from the ankles to the hips and then armpits. I'm slightly lackadaisical about it, though and sometimes go 2 or 3 days between. The hair on my arms is sparse and it blondes in the summer.
And, bonus, ladies-as you get older all that hair thins out!

Me too, including everything "down there". Fortunately that's not much, since I've started the laser treatments. I've done that for the underarms too, I think I'll need just one more there to not have to worry about it more than say, one every other week maybe. It's fantastic!

astrahl 05-03-2006 07:58 AM

I'm lucky in that I don't have a lot of body hair, and what I DO have is very light strawberry blonde.

Armpits
Legs
All the private bits, it's just more comfortable

And here I just waited for old to set in

Yeah, I thought I would get that reaction sooner. When I was younger, I had light blonde hairs around my nipples that I thought were weird. So I started shaving them. Now I'm 20 and I have to shave them, otherwise they come out yucky and black.

LOL! I was afraid of the opposite aging reaction, where things go bezerk and grow wildly long and thick, like an old man's eyebrows or ear hair!

I crack myself up.

Mine started out black. They grow just around the edge of the areola.

I shave it all, except for my head of course.

ClostGoth 05-04-2006 01:05 PM

Everything below the waist (sometimes leaving a small bit of pubes if I don't feel like shaving daily), armpits, I tweeze those black hairs that pop up around my areolas from time to time, and I tweeze any that crop up between my eyebrows or near my mouth. I've never had enough hair on my arms to care about it - and it's all really light blond anyway. My skin is REALLY sensitive and I have a hard time finding products that won't leave me raw. Anybody suggest anything? Regular shaving cream/foam is okay for legs and underarms, but still leave my nethers irritated. I tried some powder once and it worked okay - men's hair removal stuff for beards. You mix it into a pulp, apply, then scrape it off (I used a credit card). Smells awful and didn't get all the hair so I ended up shaving anyway...

Gillette Mach3 Turbo and a good lather, followed by a good non-greasy body creme(I used body powder for those spots I might have missed in the shower). And change the blade often-about every third shave. That should help.

Bryndian_Dhai 05-04-2006 04:48 PM

I shave my legs and the tops of my toes and my underarms. I use the trimmers on my nether regions, because I absolutely hate the itch when it grows back. A nice #1 trimmer shield cuts it so close that it looks bare, but leaves it just long enough that its through my skin. I don't get ingrown hairs down there anymore, either, since I started using the trimmers.

I have an endocrine disorder, so I have hair that grows in a lot of other not-so-feminine areas... I get a few around my nipples like some of y'all do, and I usually pluck those. I have to shave under my jaw (I can't afford laser, and my skin's too sensitive for any sort of chemical or waxing in that area). A girl in the salon where I go waxes my eyebrows and upper lip.

I leave the hair on my arms alone, its blonde anyway.

raeanna74 05-04-2006 07:08 PM

My Dr told me that in order to avoid the ingrown hairs in her pubic area that her dermatologist suggested she rub on some antibacterial ointment after shaving. I've found that it helps if I do that. If I put it on for about 2-3 days I have no ingrown hairs. Works great.

I should have maybe been more specific before - I don't shave feet or other areas. I do shave:
legs,
armpits,
areola (there aren't that many there but I can't stand tweezing there)
pubic area,

I do pluck the occaisional stray hair between my brows and there is one black hair that grows under my chin from a scar and one black hair that grows quite long and curly on my left forearm. So I pluck those. Any other both hair is blond and soft so not a problem.

taboo 05-05-2006 08:10 PM

am I the only one who also shaves the top of her fingers? LOL
I started once, and now it's an obsession..

Biffaloo420 05-07-2006 02:55 PM

ALL OF THE ABOVE :) !!!

Grasshopper Green 05-07-2006 03:43 PM

I guess I'm the odd one out. I despise shaving my pubic area, so I don't do it often. I get more yeast infections when I shave for some reason, and the regrowth itch makes me crazy. I shave my legs and my armpits, and during the summer, the tops of my feet because I live in sandals. Shaving my stomach or my arms has never even crossed my mind, even though I have dark body hair. I hate shaving, and I've been known to not shave my legs during the winter for a couple of weeks. Good thing hubby loves me, hair and all.

Well, we're both odd ones out (did you see my post, #2 on this thread?) No seriously, I really hate hair management, so I do the absolute minimum. And yeah, I have dark brown hair. :D

In the winter, I can go *months* without shaving my legs/pits (unless I go to the gym, then it's 1-2 times a week maybe). Summertime it's a little more often, but not more than twice a week EVER. Ya shoulda seen me in Africa last summer... 2 months of no management anywhere. It was fantastic.

My bf doesn't care one way or the other :icare: which I appreciate so much. He gets excited if I happen to shave my pubic area (which is a few times a year  ) but he never really cares otherwise, as long as I keep it trimmed somewhat.

It's not like I enjoy having body hair, but I don't care enough about it to put much energy into it. I get irritated enough just having to pluck my friggin' eyebrows a couple times a week, and bleach my upper lip a couple times a month (if I'm motivated... otherwise I just let it go and not care).

Okay, everyone on this thread probably thinks I'm a 3-eyed ogress or something. Aren't there any other women out there who are low-maintenance about their body hair?

amonkie 05-07-2006 05:36 PM

*Me Raises her Hand *

Last time I shaved my legs was before Easter ....

Pits for odor control .. every thing else ... there's a reason Pants exist .. and I've been single for almost 4 years so no pressure in that department.

la petite moi 05-07-2006 06:30 PM

Haha amonkie, I'm the same way about my legs. nwlinkvxd just better deal with it. ;) I'm pretty low maitenance when it comes to my legs, really. But I HATE having pubic hair. But see, I don't pluck my brows, wear makeup, or bleach anything, abaya.

I do on my toes, once in awhile. I thought about doing my fingers too, but I just thought the hair was too unnoticeable for me to start.

Well, I'd have to join you in the ogress department! I honestly don't have the time in the morning to shave every day...I get up between 4 and 5 to go to work, and I'm not getting up any earlier to do hair maintenance. I did read your first response though, but it was several days ago when I first read the thread :icare:

snowy 05-07-2006 07:14 PM

Well, I guess I should've been more clear in my original post. As my SO will inform you...that list only gets done about once a month in the winter, haha. It occurs more as we move towards summer.

In summer it's a lot more often because 1) I'm wearing a lot more swimwear, and if I DIDN'T shave my bikini area...well, it would be scary and 2) I LOVE the way my legs look when they're shaved and well-moisturized.

Oh yeah...and I DO have to pluck my eyebrows. One look at my picture from 8th grade and you will see why.

la petite moi 05-07-2006 07:16 PM

Haha, yeah, onesnowyowl...my sister is an esthetician and is soooo sad that I won't let her pluck my furry eyebrows. ;)

Well, what's even worse is that they're not just thick--they're black. I'd end up with a unibrow like Eduardo from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends if I didn't pluck them. So plucked they must be.

savvypup 05-08-2006 02:48 AM

Wow, we all like no hair don't we.

Hairless under the arms, legs & nether regions, although I do like the occasional racing stripe ....... just so the boy doesn't get lost. As if!!

ClostGoth 05-08-2006 05:43 AM

I _love_ that freshly shaved, smooth feeling. And I love the reaction it gets from hubby, too. I didn't mention in my previous post, but I really don't shave that often. My skin is SO sensitive that if I tried to shave daily it would literally be a bloody, painful mess. I have to let a little itchy regrowth come in before pulling out the gel. I'd say that, at most, I shave twice a week. When hubby spent a year in Korea I shaved maybe twice. ;) I don't wear make-up (except the occasional lipstick for going out) and I don't even own a blow-dryer. I'm really not very high maintenance, honest. I just hate being hairy. :D Some months I get positively OCD about it and will pluck hairs that didn't really need it just because they bother me... :hmm:

 I know the feeling. I had no idea that people even managed their eyebrows, until I was 20 years old (senior year in college) and my roommate said she had been dying to "help out my eyebrows" for a long time. I looked at her, aghast... then decided, well, okay, I'll try it. And I liked the result... I hadn't realized how overpowering my eyebrows had always been. :( (Maybe I would've gotten more dates before that if I'd started plucking earlier in life  ) So, I've been plucking since then, even though I hate doing it. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to grow them back in...

/goes off to pluck, since it's been a week or so and they're getting stubbly. :p

Evileyez 05-14-2006 07:41 AM
