i think males should be both feminine and masculine if they expect to be loved at all. acting a certain way because of your gender is the stupidest thing i've ever heard.

dbh 03-31-2005 02:44 PM

Must be day 26. Last night I got yelled at for coming home from work 5 minutes late!

Willravel 11-11-2005 10:14 PM

If you google my screen name, this thread comes up #1! Just FYI.

Dragonknight 11-11-2005 11:23 PM

LOL that and this are so cool. Congrats on the google thing, and thanks on the info. After 6 years with my wife (only married for 3) I've noticed some of these, yet missed others. I will have to see how accurate this is for my wife. Once again thanks.

loganmule 11-12-2005 09:16 AM

kitsune must have been in day 24 or so (pms) when she posted #81...Just kidding. I don't know how accurate this is, but I read it to my wife, and she agreed that it was hilarious.

Rubyee 11-13-2005 06:55 PM

I know that this was posted in good fun, but come on!

Point her to the clothes?!?! Don't let her leave the house?!?!

This was obviously written by a male. A male who has no mate. I have never felt like such an object.

Try and guess which day I am in!!!

Mantus 11-13-2005 09:41 PM

Schizophrenics are fun! 7 personalities for one date, what a deal!

This is simply a matter of defining tendancies in order to help everyone. Females TEND to be attracted to males and visa versa, is that not natural behavior? Males have more testosterone than women and tend to be more agressive, is that not natural behavior?

Isn't a kitsune a type of mythical cat or fox? I forget.

When I was a teenager growing up with just my father, brother and I, I would get very upset when they even hinted that my moods might be because of my menstrual cycle...as I got older and really started paying attention, I noticed that it very much depended on my cycle. Knowing this now, I try to help my husband help me by realizing I might be more succeptible to taking what he says wrong and tone down my responses.

I think you did a very good job on this. Lots of research and medical jargon put in a way that everyone can understand. You are to be commended sir! As it was stated, our hormones are a part of us. We (and our SOs) have to live with it the best way we can.

Isn't it amazing how the human body works?

cybersharp 01-04-2006 04:15 PM

It is not memorized, it has been carved into my existance...haha..

Thanks it was a good thread, and good read.

Fabulous. I lived day 23 at least 2 weeks out of the month, so I ended up on the pill that keeps me sane for three months at a time. My poor boyfriend couldn't track my cycles to save his life. I'm sending him this post, since it's more applicable for me if you modify it from 28-day cycle to the 90-day cycle. Strangely enough, the formula still works almost perfectly except that my PMS doesn't last two weeks... just four days now.

But, Will, isn't it true that men follow the same hormone cycle multiple times in one day? I was looking for back-up somewhere, but I couldn't find anything reliable. I know I learned about it at some point because I laughed my fool head off.

LOL, I almost choked on that. The thread was interesting, I find it informative and amusing nonetheless.

DonovanDuVal 01-06-2006 03:22 PM

Funny and informative. You can't ask for much more than that.

Actually, I helped to write it. I did a most of the actual research for it, though, so I consider it mine. It was featured in an old issue of Men's Health.

Carno 01-06-2006 06:37 PM

Cool. How'd you get it into Men's Health? Did yall contact them or did they buy the article from you or something?

The.Lunatic 01-06-2006 11:33 PM

Intresting, but i'm not quite ready to take it to heart i'd say its generally along those lines but women are too damn unpredictable for this to be super solid, that said i could see how hormonal flux has something to do with why your girl is so damn horney sometimes.

redsfan11 01-09-2006 07:48 PM

I think my wife is getting all of the missing periods that your girlfriends are skipping. Please, please have them resume their periods -- I am going crazy over here.

Destrox 02-28-2007 01:29 PM

How i managed to never see this is unknown.

Great post! I love it.

Your hard on's your urges and temptations, Tempers..We are all human and all out of control at times..Makes it interesting in a way don't ya think?

Hmm, this seems to be working (*rubbing together slightly musky hands*). Soon my evil plan will come to fruition (but not between days 21 and 5).

Jennifer 03-14-2007 12:19 AM

This is very interesting :) I got the feeling I go through cycles like this but I never bothered to actually keep track. It doesn't sound 100% correct for me, but now that I've seen a general outline I may have the initiative to see which parts are true for me and which aren't. Thanks

This is true. I've seen it happen. It's facinating from a scientific point of view. I wonder how that trait came to be.

I remember hearing about this somewhere. I believe it's from the book, The Red Queen: Sex and the Evolution of Human Nature by Matt Ridley.

It stems back to the hunter-gatherer days of humankind. The men would leave their village periodicly to hunt for food for weeks at a time. This caused many couples to miss the time when the woman was ovulating, miss their chance to mate and have offspring, and die. Very sad. Fortunately, all the women in the village evolved, and their cycles syncronized with the dominant female. The men caught on to this, and realized when it was best to spend time with their wives (and mate and have offspring), and when to get the hell out of town :)

MySexyAssJ 05-31-2007 09:21 PM

This isn't only good for men to read, it's great for woman too. I didn't know half of these things and now that I have read this, I understand myself a little bit better now. Thanks Willravel for sharing :)

A ballsy jock could use this knowledge to seduce a horny cheerleading squad into a hell of an orgy though. ;):D:crazy:

That's a neat little mood chart you made there willtravel!! I don't know if it really applies to me or not, I don't notice that I go through these stages, or at least not so pronounced. Could be because I"ve been on some form of birthcontrol since grade 10 though and I don't really remember what a natural cycle is like. I do recall being quite moody during the actual "event", but that was because I got such terrible cramps, the pain made me bitchy. Is this cycle more for women on non-hormonal birthcontrol or natural cycles? I guess some women are more affected by their cycle as well. I try my best to ignore mine as it's just a hassle for me and I don't like feeling as though I'm a slave to the cycle. I remember being in juniour high and all of my friends would get there period at the same time, funny how women who are around each other a lot can do that. I loved when I was on Depo Provera, I didn't get any ups and downs of the cycle (no period, so that's probably why) and just felt like me the entire time. I've been on the pill (just switched to a different pill though) for about a year now, and haven't really noticed much of this, but then again, I just started getting my period back after being on Depo for so long. It was quite traumatizing for me, like the first time all over again. I HATE it. Oh well, I'm going to start paying more attention and seeing if I notice much changes going on that fit your cycle willtravel. As I said before, I've never had such a pronounced difference in different hormonal phases though.

LOL i feel like a robot now, this was very educational, i should do all my medical research on here! it should be given to all teenage boys, when they reach puberty, help them learn why one minute the girls like them, to when they don't! Hormones, such wonderful things!

This site is wicked where have you been all my life?

Randerolf 11-01-2007 08:23 AM

Thanks for the info Will. How does being on the pill influence this sheet? Would the moods and horniness be less dramatic?

Opposite sex drives you crazy -- the causes
May 28, 2008 -- Updated 0347 GMT (1147 HKT)
by Joy Hepp
from Edition, http://edition.cnn.com

(LifeWire) -- As Walter Christensen, a 53-year-old physics professor from Pomona, California, discovered, when it comes to cuddling, women know what they want. When he and his lover spend the night together, he's usually awoken around 3 a.m. with a familiar request.

"She calls out, 'Spoon, spoon!'" he says. He willingly obliges with front-to-back cuddling -- even though he admits he probably wouldn't do so without being asked.

"I like the feeling of her wanting to do that," he says, "so I do it out of a sense of responsibility."

His lover, 32-year-old art-history scholar Natalie Valle, appreciates the attention.

While the differences between the sexes drive some couples to distraction, being aware of them enhances relationships, as Christensen and Valle can attest. Is there hope for the rest of us? Researchers have found that science can be used to explain a lot of behavior that widens the gender gap, and in so doing may help couples understand each other better.

1. Women want to cuddle

What you think: Women love to cuddle after sex, whereas men just want to fall asleep.

What the experts say: "During sexual intercourse, oxytocin is released in both men and women, and that encourages bonding within the couple," says Dr. Marianne J. Legato, founder of the Partnership for Gender-Specific Medicine at Columbia University and author of "Why Men Never Remember and Women Never Forget."

Oxytocin is a hormone often associated with love because its levels increase during intimate acts like hugging, kissing and intercourse. However, "testosterone neutralizes the effect of oxytocin, so men are less likely to want to prolong contact after orgasm."

2. Men hate shopping

What you think: Men hate to go shopping with their mate because they think it's a waste of time.

What the experts say: Men do enjoy shopping when they get to "hunt" for a specific item, whereas women enjoy "grazing" for items. This goes back to our hunting and gathering days, when losing focus could mean losing the week's meal.

"Men are much more task-oriented," says Robert Schwarz, a psychologist and director of the Mars and Venus Counseling and Wellness Center in Haverford, Pennsylvania. "They hunt it, they kill it, they buy it and they go out."

In the aptly titled 2007 study "Men Buy, Women Shop," University of Pennsylvania researchers found that factors having to do with speed and convenience were the most important for men. Of the 1,250 male and female shoppers surveyed by phone, finding parking near the store or mall entrance was the No. 1 problem men said they encountered when shopping (29 percent of respondents), whereas women cited "lack of help" as their chief complaint (also 29 percent).

3. Women make mountains out of molehills

What you think: Women obsess about every little thing; men seem to have it all under control.

What the experts say: Men are problem-solvers and tend to bring up a problem only in order to search for its solution, says Schwarz. The "eureka" moment of problem-solving increases the level of dopamine, a pleasure-inducing chemical, in the brain. (This also explains why men will wait until it's absolutely necessary to stop and ask for directions.)

Women relieve stress by talking and relating their problems to others, which produces serotonin, said to enhance moods and ward off depression.

4. Men are impervious to cold

What you think: Men are content to freeze, while women always want to turn up the thermostat.

What the experts say: According to the Mayo Clinic, women are more sensitive to cold than men are, but not because they like to feel warm and cozy. Because women on average are smaller than men, their metabolic rate tends to be lower. This means their bodies generate less heat. They also tend to have less fat, which acts as insulation, on their upper bodies and around their waists, as well as less muscle mass, which also helps keep the body warm.

5. Women Love 'chick flicks'

What you think: Women prefer romantic movies (aka "chick flicks") while men like action and adventure.

What the experts say: Women may like romantic movies better than men, but in a 2007 study at Kansas State University, men rated romantic movies "higher than most people would have guessed," says psychology professor Richard Harris, who led the survey of 265 Kansas State students. On a scale of 1 to 7, men gave the movies a 4.8, while women rated them a 6.

However, "we found that when seeing the film on a date ... if one party makes the decision, then they stay true to those stereotypes, with guys choosing to go to a violent film and women choosing a romantic film," Harris told the Reuters news agency in January.

Jose Ferraro can relate. He spent New Year's Day at the theater, dozing through the romantic drama "Atonement" with his wife, Kyle.

"She tricked me into going," says the 44-year-old engineer from Yorba Linda, California.

His wife, Kyle, a 49-year-old fitness instructor, fesses up: "I said there was some fighting in it," she admits.

The only thing that I don’t agree with are Days 26-28. I hate the fact that everyone thinks “that time of the month” comes with a tub of chocolate ice cream. I really don’t get it. For me its onion rings, deviled eggs, and pickled sausages. I’m not sure why but I have never craved chocolate, icing, cookies or anything else of that nature.
