Hi everyone...

My name is Chris, 32, purveyor of new and secondhand books from a little shop (honestly - a real shop with bricks and everything - they still exist!). Not much more to say really... life seems to consist of work and sleeping :-P

Yes, he's a drummer in a couple of bands. He played at the Rodeo Bar in NYC a couple of weeks ago. When I get to know you all better, I'll get more specific.

just a word about color changing your text, it's generally frowned upon because you don't know what style someone else is using and probably it's not going to be readable and when something isn't readable, they skip it.

BUT you happened to pick the one color that staff uses because everyone can read it no matter the theme. Please don't use that one at all.

Hello all. I'm writing this from Maryland, where I am attending classes to upgrade my mariner status. I'm 41 years old. No wife, no kids, no home and a handful of friends scattered about the US. I work 4 months onboard/2 months off. I'm considering planting some roots in Seattle or the Bay area at the end of the year.

Ships today do have internet, though the amount of time you get online varies. At the least, sailors get some time each week to check email and pay their bills.
Working onboard the M.S. "pride of Aloha" in Hawaii, I got to surf the net daily, though it was via a prepaid card and quite expensive.
My daily status updates to my family and friends still get written at sea, they're just not posted daily. I keep everything on a memory stick and ready to post as one big update when possible.
