Hi Peeps

welcome bigpistons and $hina

Hello!

cremaster 06-02-2010 05:05 AM

Hi all,

Found you guys by googling -- philosophy monty hall math problem forum.

It appears not a great deal of math but lots of other interesting stuff.

Cheers.

Redlemon 06-02-2010 06:16 AM

Cremaster. Heh.

Hello, there, Ann Detox. Since you've posted something on the world famous TFP boards, you're automatically less clueless.

nukeu666 06-08-2010 09:46 AM

Well, here I am again
Logging in for the first time in about 5 years...
I wonder what brought me back :p

The_Jazz 06-08-2010 10:42 AM

nuke! Welcome back!

Sirensong12 06-09-2010 05:29 PM

Hi! I'm Siren and I don't know what to say, exactly. I know I've posted here a couple times before.

Background? It's all so boring. :) I am a financial aid administrator in a giant college. Questions welcome.

I like movies, mostly old ones and independent film. I love to read. I like an occasionally occasional beer. Or ten.

hmm... I'm new to this forum.
Looks like I will need to take the time and figure out how this all works.

Always good to learn and be involved in something new.

warrrreagl 06-12-2010 07:51 PM

Free To Fly, you've already figured out the most important thing - type something and click Reply.

And it's always good to learn about someone new.

mqa 06-13-2010 08:23 AM

Hi, I'm new! I hope I'm going to be part of some productive discussions, and learn some new things - who knows, maybe someone can learn something from me as well (:

Freetofly 06-13-2010 05:26 PM

warrreagl thank you for letting me know someone heard me.

Meequa (I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly) I love your avatar. It makes me think of this song.

You're welcome. Just know that the TFP higher-ups are cringing right now because I'm the goofbag who just welcomed you.

The_Jazz 06-14-2010 04:34 AM

Hi there all-you-new-folks-who-are-too-numerous-to-list-since-I-last-welcomed-folks-in-this-thread! Glad you all made it and introduced yourself!

I can't think of a better goofbag to welcome folks. Unless it's me.

Thanks (: Actually, I've always pronounced it "m-q-a", but I think I like your way better! Maybe it's time to change the pronounciation =D

Jetée 06-14-2010 05:02 PM

Pleased to meet you postpacific (you, too mqa).

I do hope you enjoy your venture here, and come to stay a while.

Jeon 06-16-2010 08:13 PM

Hi everyone, I am new here... *bows to the crowd then scurries back into the corner to lurk*

Jetée 06-17-2010 12:04 PM

Greetings, Jeon (hopefully I pronounced your username right).

Jeon 06-17-2010 01:58 PM

Say my name out loud three times, if I spontaneously appear it means either you got it right, or you are some kinda powerful... ^_^

warrrreagl 06-17-2010 07:14 PM

I get "johnjohnjohn, eh?" when I try it.

warrrreagl 06-18-2010 08:13 AM

Hi, joshnight! It's a little hot down here, but otherwise a very nice day.

G5000 06-18-2010 06:40 PM

It says "New Users Visit Here FIRST".

I am a New User.

So here I am...uh...here. First.

I like politics, hate slower drivers in the left lane, protect my friends with zeal, and take care of my staff and loved ones better than I take care of myself.

Retired military, been around the block and the planet, and appreciate the incredible luck of being born in the USA where you can get a frozen berry drink at three o'clock in the morning, from your car, less than ten minutes from your house.

Favorite book: Cannery Row.

Not a big sci-fi reader, but I evangelize Snow Crash every chance I get. Like right now.

Read it.

Favorite movie: Koyaanisqatsi.

Sometimes, if someone ticks me off, I might bludgeon them with a ton of evidence. Especially if they are a Nazi type. Especially if they are an Illinois Nazi.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hit it.

dlish 06-18-2010 06:43 PM

welcome G5000.

i think you and warrreagl will get along just fine

Sedge 06-22-2010 07:05 PM

Just following directions...

Signing up to this because at first glance, the intelligence level of the posters seems above average. Please don't disappoint me. I'm trying for average myself, so I need inspiration!

dlish 06-22-2010 07:25 PM

hey sedge, welcome to TFP

dont forget to come into chat to say hello too!

genuinegirly 06-22-2010 07:38 PM

Welcome! Hope you have fun here!

Slysylvester 06-29-2010 05:30 PM

West slope of Colorado checking in

OK, I was told to come here first, so here I am.

I live in the 4-corners area of the U.S. I am a retired librarian and I like books, cats and intelligent discussion. I don't like the fact that pluto is no longer a planet. I know how to be polite. I don't know how to spell.

This looks like an interesting place and I look forward to participating in the discussions.

genuinegirly 06-29-2010 05:31 PM

Welcome, Sly. Sounds like you'll fit in great here!

Redlemon 06-30-2010 05:25 AM

Yay! Librarians!

dlish 06-30-2010 10:43 AM

slysylvester.. meet baraka_guru

sephir 07-02-2010 04:46 AM

Hey guys! Seems like a great community! Glad to have found this place! Greetings from NYC!

Jetée 07-05-2010 08:54 PM

Welcome all. Enjoy our splendors and conversations for however long they may last.

I might start keeping a tally of how many of you actually graduate to more than three posts over the course of a week, and then see what kind of "retaining factor" we might have for any given, and average, month (my presumed guess is not all that high).

IamPete 07-08-2010 11:49 AM

Hi, hello, how are you?

Hi, hello, how are you? I can tell by your hat you're an American. Well, so am I.

The_Jazz 07-09-2010 04:43 AM

Howdy, Pete. Nice hat.

Goes with the wicker basket.

(OK, I'm sure I'm the only one to get that reference. But it amuses me.

There's this one-man musical, "Miss Gulch Returns". It's about Miss Gulch, who is the woman in the beginning of The Wizard of Oz who steals Dorothy's dog. The opening number has the performer imagining meeting Miss Gulch in a bar, and trying to make a move on her. Thus, "Nice hat. Goes with the wicker basket".

Oh, nevermind.)
