dlish - All I can say is that Shire folks are like little Hobbits, they have no idea that there is a big wide world out there that has so much to offer. Plus they're a bunch of stuck up nobs, I mean snobs :p. Apparently only 15% of people that grow up in the Shire actually move out and I am very proud to say that I am one of the minority . As for it being God's country, that is a lie perpetuated by a group of ignoramus' that have never experienced the rest of the world, in order to keep themselves happily comfortable in their naivety.

I now live out west and I'm pretty sure the majority of people I used to know think that we're some sort of bogan westies...... just goes to show their complete ignorance and inability to experience life outside of the confines of the Shire.

By the way, I do love the Shire simply because it is beautiful, would never ever move back though. Can't handle having to constantly keep up with the neighbours or the stupid attitudes that are generally shown towards anyone that is different from the "norm" (what that is I'm still not sure).

Hi everyone! I was a TFP member looooong ago, and a regular CTF player/Instagib.com member. I played and posted as Halcyon, and have seen a few familiar names on here (like Fragnome). Glad to see TFP is still around and doing the lord's work! Hal always did have the makings of an evil overlord :D
Cheers!

I am Brian, I joined in 2005 then promptly forgot. This is my first post. I am interested in appropriate technology and changing the way science is funded so that stuff for poor people gets researched too.
I do appropriate tech research as a hobby but it never gets propper scientific review.
I invented the pulser pump in 1987 and I gave the idea to the community the next year. A pump with no noving parts. (it is on the net with video, etc)
I also made the "mechanical mathematician" so that a farmer or villager could make a parabolic dish with no math.
And dripper trackers for solar cooking
I have just started with the the solar design t-square with which I made the first model of clam shaped solar cookers for unattended cooking.
I am a stone mason
Where could I go on the forum to find people interested in that stuff and interested in cob? Cob building.
The solar devices can be found on the solar cooking website
Brian
