What happened to the chat room?
This may be a newbie question, hence I'll ask it here. This board used to link to a chat room, but I cant see the link anymore. Has the chat room gone?
|
Check out this thread:
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...ght=shadowfire It's definitely the happenin' place to be :D |
The chat room is still around, however the in-site java client is gone (at least for now, not sure if it will be returning). If you would like to connect to chat, we are on irc.shadowfire.org in #tfp
|
Thanks. I have no idea what IRC even is, and the link the chap posted takes me nowhere, so I guess I'll have to take your word its still there! ;)
|
This thread should help you out. It's got tutorials for mIRC and X-Chat to set them up to access IRC and connect to the TFP chat room: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...82#post1501782

go to http://www.mirc.com/get.html and download the MIRC client.
This client will get you the ability to access IRC . (If I can get it set up - -anyone can... :) (IRC also works with the trillian chat program) |

So do many folks hang out on IRC?
|
in the evenings - between 7pm - 12am EST there are anywhere from 15- 20 regulars - the more the merrier
|
well, I downloaded MIRC, and it is only an evaluation version that quites working in 30 days if I dont pay them... and I still have no idea how to get into the tfp chat room.... I know I am not the most IT literate, but I am not a complete idiot either, but I dont really understand these sort of things. It was a lot easier when the chatroom was just linked from this site. I am sure that the more IT orientated guys here can get onto whatever there is now, but what hope for the likes of me???
Well, I suppose its nothing to complain of, if I cant get into the chat room I guess its my own fault! |
Try out X-Chat. The tutorial I provided in the link above should walk you through connecting step by step.
|
Secret -
Have you tried the FireFox extension for IRC - ChatZilla? |
Yes, I used Chatzilla a bit back when I was using the Mozilla suite. It's good enough for TFP chat, but I do more than just TFP chat on IRC, so I like XChat since it's more powerful. Perhaps I'll add a Chatzilla tutorial to that thread.
