Tilted titles
When you are able to add a personalised title, do you choose one yourself at the start, or are you assigned one by the mods? (or the rockers?!).
In addition, is the title "banned" that i have seen under some contributors' names an ironic or literal thing? |
along with other benefits, a title comes along after sufficient participation... that's the most specific answer you're gonna get without doing a search for the answer yourself. :) btw, massive groan on the (or rockers?!) comment. :D
as for the people whose titles are "banned" or "loser," the title means exactly what is says. they are the people who dicked around, spammed, plugged, threadwasted, or lied about their age/sex/intelligence levels. we're an adult community and expect everyone to live up to that simple standard. if you have any other questions, feel free to pm me or any of the other mods... we're here to help. |
Thank you sir. Actually, Mr Ph, my first query was less "how do I get a title?" but more "who chooses what it is?" Alot of people have "Tilted" and... oh something else I can't remember (EDIT: Insane). Are these given before the personalised one is attained, as a sort of "you're gettin' there buddy!" ?
Oh yeah, fanx for the props about my rockers ting. They were props weren't they? ;) |
It is a sort of you're getting there buddy, if you've ever been to other forums, primarily
computer ones, they have titles after, let's say, posting 100, 500, 1000, 2000 posts. Here, you're Rookie, Tilted, Junkie, Insane... something like that... |
Brill, cheers for that.

props indeed.
the given titles have been pre-selected by a highly-paid committee of geniuses and nobel laureates who have spent millions of dollars and tens of thousands of man-hours poruing over the best titles to give to our membership as they progress through the tfp. it was a painstaking process, and in the end, they had to resort to pulling names out of a hat, but it was done, by god. (100% fact) (not really) |
I'm of the firm belief that the majority of the TFP regs are, in fact, thousands of monkeys on thousands of computers. Prove me wrong folks.

And the best they could come up with was "Crazy" and "Psycho" ??? :P PS: Love the second quote Phred, read the article with it from Fark earlier today... |
In answer to your question.....I was Psycho when I got the custom title.....but the switch is flipped by the Mods/Admins when you are deemed ready, could be at any time depending on the quality, and quantity of posts. I'm just waiting for Stephen Freakin' Hawking to come in here and go from "Rookie" to "Master of the Unbelievably Small" in a day.

Sorry Tecoyah, I haven't fanked you for this further explanation. FANKS!

I don't know what will happen to me for releasing this information, or even if it'll make it past the screeners, but I hope they just put me in a cage fora few weeks without much food instead of selling me to the shampoo manufacturers like they did to Jimmy. :D |
ooh ooh ooh (lol [ooh])
|
and the see if the monkeys come up with better thoughts then the humans...
|
im not a newbie, but i have a question
if i were to change my custom title to "Banned", would it trick a mod or admin into banning me by accident? |
Quote:
I doubt it would trick mods or admins but I'd say don't do it unless.. you really really really want to. |
OK, so with the titles, it works on a system of "Quality Posts" instead of "hell yeah!" and "WOah, I bet she likes the &*#@$". SO, at the risk of sounding like an ass, what would warrant a "QUality Post" short of putting one nanosecond more thought into them?
|
So it's monkeys on computers typing "w0w", "lolz", and "capital knockers" then? Thank God. For a second there I thought humanity was getting stupider and the country was doomed to be run by complete dimwits in the future. Well it's a good thing I'm wrong and they're just monkeys typing away. We dodged the bullet this time....

a quality post is one that either answers the question directly or expands on the current thought and/or poses a new thought process. For instance, if a thread asks a question. Don't just answer yes or no. Expand on the reasoning behind why you put yes or no. |
