GIF's as avatars ????
 

Ok so I found the GIF I want to use as my avatar, now I need to know how to shrink that sucker down to 100x100 pixels, the program Im currently using won't let me edit a GIF file, your thoughts or suggestions are appreciated, Thanks

Ok, so here's the deal, I ended up using GIFworks to shrink the GIF down to 100X100 pixels, when I try to change my avatar it still says it's to large, needs to be 200000 bytes or less, I don't know whats up with that. Maybe it's just not meant for me to have a GIF avatar?? What do you all think ??

what do you need to be able to have an avatar?

All I have is a llama, two goats, a carton of cigarettes, foreign currency and a wish in one hand and some shit in the other. Foiled again!

I use Ulead GIF Animator 5. Its decent. I remade the jelly scene from finding nemo in it and paint, pixel art style. I generally scale stuff down though. Ive taken 127kb to 7kb before, to make the StarWarsKid avatar into a buddy icon for a friend. I like Ulead, its simple. I dowloaded it on kazaa.

You can try reducing the image even further to reduce the file size of the image to under 200000 -- try 95 X 95 then 90 X 90 and so on and so forth until the image will be accepted. At that point decide if the avatar has been reduced to much or its still acceptable to you.

I was wondering what the rule on avatars was...I have an uber sexy one that I was going to share with everyone :D guess I will just have to post my arse off.

I like fun animated gifs as avatars. Many times I haved been stared at an avatar for minutes. :)

It's not easy. I reccoment finding another gif. If you insist though, search for something like <"gif editor" +download> on google and see what pops up. Good luck with that!

I just got Animation Shop 3 bundled with Paint Shop Pro 8.
I'm still learning all the bell's and whistle's but it seems pretty sweet so far.
