I for one have a large weakness for good cheese... and the best I have had has come from France.

Baraka_Guru 02-01-2011 10:03 AM

Hello, kaerlyon!

Don't worry, you're doing well with the language.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions about vocabulary or whatever. You can even create your own threads for this very purpose.

kaerlyon 02-01-2011 10:18 AM

Thanks for you welcome Amonkie ;)
I knew I had succes if I say about cheeses :D (I have many customers from USA and England)

Yes I have a verrrrrrrrrry important question : I would like to know if for you it's the morning or the evening. Ok, I know, it's not important but I'm just curious :p

Thanks for yours encouragements Dlish..... but I hope just everyone understand me ;)
You say you know many french people. In Australia ? There are many french people in Australia. I often heard french to go to Australia (or would like to go) but I thought it's just stories.

So I stop for the moment. I am going to dine :)

biznatch 02-01-2011 10:29 AM

Welcome, from another french member!
Though I'm not a fan of cheese, which is a disappointment for most of my family members :)

About time zones: USA is in a timezone that's about 6 to 9 hours earlier than France's.

Hope you enjoy your stay here!

dlish 02-01-2011 10:40 AM

Ohhh, you have Wordsworth as signature. I love his poems but in France, it's very, very hard to find it, as all english poets. If you like poetry, maybe we can speak about it one day ;)

Bonjour!

I visited France a year and a half ago and had a great time.

Cynthetiq 02-01-2011 06:54 PM

Hello from NYC! I hope that you enjoy your time here on our internet space.

Some of us with good english still don't get their thoughts across well so don't worry too much about it. It's all good. If we don't understand something we'll ask for clarification.

Craven Morehead 02-01-2011 07:46 PM

Very cool, welcome aboard. Your English is just fine. If you don't mind I'm reading your posts with a French accent. :)

LazyBoy 02-01-2011 08:48 PM

Welcome, your English seems great to me :)

bagatelle 02-01-2011 11:42 PM

Salut. :) I studied French for three years in high shool, 25 years ago. I love the pronounciation, but I'm not very good at speaking anymore. I would like to visit France one day.

Thanks, Cynthetiq, I hope too :) For the moments I take many times for my answers but I hope it's better with time. Already, I lost my usualy to make french sentences in my head before write. I learnt english to school..... there are a very long time :p No problem for clarification ;)

:D No problem Craven Morehead, I have a big french accent :p Many people says : "hoooo, you have a looooovely french accent" Mphhhmmm, I'm not sure is a compliment :oogle: :D

Thanks Lazyboy. It's nice :)

Hi Bagatelle. Many people say french language is very hard (and many french don't speak well his own language !). And many french people think french language is the only language on the world and wouldn't make the first step. But for me I find that sad because if you have many languages you can speak with a lot of people around the world. So, ok, I'm curious and I love speak :D Where do you come from in Europe ?

Thanks all for your welcome :) I go to visit TFP

bagatelle 02-03-2011 11:23 AM

I am Finnish. I have noone to speak French with, so when I'm in the mood to practise, I usually sing along to French music by Celine Dion, Lara Fabian, Patricia Kaas and so on. :D I'm not good at writing French anymore, I understand quite a lot of what I read though.

Whaouuuu

Céline Dion, Patricia kaas, Lara Fabian : you have a big courage  :D sorry, it's a joke ;)

If you listen french music, me I listen finnish music : Sonata Artica, Ensiferum (in concert  ), Fintroll (in concert  ).... Do you know this bands ? Ok, it's not same music but.... maybe.... :)

bagatelle 02-03-2011 11:15 PM

:D I can't sing at all and I have to say there is much pathos in these songs, but for some reason they are excellent for rehearsing the pronounciation - when I'm alone! Maybe because they are not fast songs. I really like how the french words roll on my tongue. I have not really explored French music.

Funny, I had not heard about Ensiferum at all! It sounds pretty nice. The others you mentioned are a bit too much metal for me. :shakehead:

I didn't think french is a sweet language for foreigners, because we have many hard pronunciations.

After, all same countries, of course, we have differents accents. In north, belgium accent, east, german accent, in the south, sun accent. My family come from to Limousin. It's a singing accent. People say (I try a traduction) "the smiling gate of the sun" :) But singers have a neutral accent  It's sad

Yes, I love metal  :D But I listen differents music same classic or variety. But I have a stupid theory. I try explain in english Mmmphhmmm, hard :D
So you have 2 kinds of bands. First, you hear all time on the radio and after several days, all people know, singing and maybe buying.... until a new song of another band. So the first band, if he wants stay on the radio, he must make a new album quickly but with less work. This bands didn't take enough time for look for a good music or good texts.

For the second kind of bands, you never hear on the radio. You have a band, he makes an album and after, for to become know, he makes a tour with another bands. Little tour and if people love, and come back to the futur, bigger tour. And people says about this bands to their friends, ect.... So this bands must make good music because this people is more strict. If a new album is bad, this band haven't no money's public and no money's radio. So he must stop. And metal music is never hear on the radio ;)

Pffffff I finish :oogle: I hope my text is understandable :p

bagatelle 02-04-2011 07:28 AM

In other words, if the band is true to themselves and follow their own style instead of trying to be popular, they have better chances to succeed in keeping their faithful fans - and become known this way.

Metal - too aggressive tempo in songs does not please me. Some metal music can be good, but I prefer not to listen to shouting. Would you classify Ensiferum as metal?
