How to become a full member
 

Sorry to be dense, but... I keep seeing references to being a "full member" but I have not seen any discussions about how to attain that status or what it means. I gather that it opens certain forums that are otherwise invisible, but I could use a tutorial.

I know the info is on the site somewhere, so maybe somebody could just point me to it.

Thanks to everyone for answering my question. I think I get it, but it could certainly be made more clear. I did read the section that TwistedMosaic asked about but found it pretty vague. I think the moderators could tighten that language up a bit.

Yeah I was wondering about this as well. But, I'm not really too worried about it. I like the forum so I'm going to keep active whether or not I become a full member or not. You know?

I remember when becoming a full member was much more difficult.

There is no one answer to cover everyone who signs up. Some people may progress through the ranks faster than others for very good reasons. Some people may not progress at all. Quality is and always has been more important than quantity.

If you have specific questions, you can always ask them here, another thread or by PM'ing a mod or admin.

You remember wrong. The requirements for becoming a full member have only progressed in one direction: getting harder (that said, it's not particularly hard). Originally, it was only after a certain number of posts. Then that post number was raised (I'm not going to say what it is, but the number is still reasonably low all things considered). Then it was made so that posts in places like the Erogenous Zone and Tilted Nonsense don't count. Then staff review was added into the mix. And now, it requires a certain number of counted posts, being here for a minimum of one month, and staff review. Relatively speaking, becoming a full member is much more difficult now than it ever was. Chances are, you think it is easier now because, despite being more difficult to actually become a full member (a meaningful promotion), it is easier to have an avatar now (it used to require 250 posts, now it's available to everyone). Ultimately, though, which do you think is more important? A silly little picture next to your name, or access to the couple full member forums? And those full member forums don't even count Tilted Exhibition, whose requirements are above even those of becoming a full member.

That said, I wouldn't let it worry you, nonplussed. You're not missing anything that would make the site a totally different experience for you, so if you like the site, stick around, and participate in meaningful discussion, you'll become a full member fairly quickly :) Being a full member isn't some super secret society, and we're eager to include more people - we just like to take the time and be sure those people already know what the site is about before doing so. From the looks of it, you're already off to a good start :)

To answer a question you posed in a thread in the Erogenous Zone (probably more appropriate to answer it here anyway)...It does not have to do with membership level. My guess is that the images were just not working at that time for whatever reason. That happens fairly frequently, because images posted to the Erogenous Zone are hotlinked from elsewhere (which means TFP doesn't host them). When you come across a thread where the images don't work like that, click the report post button (http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/images/...ons/report.gif) and let us know. As for the specific thread you posted that question to, the images look to be working now. (If they're still not working for you, I have no idea why that is, but you can rest assured it's not anything on our end :))

I was sort of wondering the same question. I've been technically registered with tfp for a while, but now I'm trying to become apart of the community.

That's all we've ever asked of anyone. You will not get early membership if you're a hot girl willing to get naked, no matter how much Bill O'Rights thinks you look like Alyson Hannigan. I say that in jest, but I know that there's been a recent rumor to the contrary, and it's not true.

You will not get early membership if you refer a bunch of people. You will not get early membership if you are best friends with a moderator. You will not get early membership if you are my biggest client. You will not get early membership if you (maybe especially if) you're Halx's sister.

If you are an active member, you will earn it yourself. Just like anything worth having.

I know I haven't been here long, but I think I got the idea down. Don't think of it as a level that you need to obtain, but rather think of full membership as an added benifit later on.

Just enjoy what this has to offer now and you'll acheive the benefit of full membership later on down the road. It's like a probation period, but without limitation to posting.
