I'd love to go but the timing is bad for me. I've got rare guests scheduled to come visit Denver during the same timeframe. Hope you all have a good time!

tecoyah 02-19-2006 12:33 PM

Was hoping to find out who intends to bring computers.....(yeah yeah...Im at the technical stage of planning this)...and what wireless cpability we might have because of it. I have a couple....Ideas...heh.

Meditrina 02-19-2006 12:49 PM

Do you have a wireless router? If you do, and IF I can come, I can bring my laptop.

(because I really really need to come. but that is another story)

Scorps 02-23-2006 12:43 PM

Add me to the maybe list I gotta make it this year.....

zharvey 02-23-2006 01:07 PM

Hey I just joined a few days ago but am really getting into this site. I live about 4 hours away from Rochester. Is the invite open to anyone on the forums or do I have to "put in my 9 to 5" first and get the inside invite? (Keep in mind it will be in the middle of the summer and I will have been on here for a decent length of time by then.)

It would be good to have you come. I don't see a problem with it!

amonkie 02-23-2006 06:50 PM

It is open to all members - I look forward to seeing some of your posts between now and then :)

zharvey 02-24-2006 06:39 AM

Pain Train and amonkie - thank you for the warm welcome! And amonkie, I was perusing the post about the "view out of everyone's bedroom window" and can I say that I'm so happy for you! You know I really think brick walls look beautiful in the winter!

A friend is getting married, and it's Simon's mum's birthday that weekend.

Sorry folks, I can't go.

Strange Famous 03-12-2006 11:11 AM

so... is still happening? Im gonna be in CT at the start of July, it'd be cool to meet some people from here. I dunno that I'll be bringing a PC, how about a couple of 6 packs of beer instead?

tecoyah 03-12-2006 06:22 PM

Its definately still a GO.....we have plenty of Puters now.....but hell, there will never be enough beer....if the last party is anything to go by.

Scorps 03-15-2006 06:54 PM

Did someone say the ferry isn't working? because drive around Lake Ontario is gonna suck.

tecoyah 03-16-2006 02:28 AM

Yeah...they are selling the service. No more Canada link by boat....kinds sucks. But it takes about the same time to drive it as the ferry trip, depending on traffic and weather.

amonkie 03-16-2006 03:45 AM

I drove the trip in 3-4 hours a few weekends ago from Rochester to Toronto and back ... it's not painful :)

Charlatan 03-16-2006 06:33 AM

I am pretty sure that Kingston is even closer to Rochester than Toronto. It should only take a couple hours.

oh ya I know that, but my car doesn't like the highway to much :hmm:, but maybe I will rent a car they are fun to beat the crap out of :D

Strange Famous 03-17-2006 11:22 AM

so... I am certainly coming over to the states in this period, Im gonna stay with my boy who lives near Old Saybrook, CT - so I figure Rochester isnt that far out of my way for a few days first, and it'd be cool to meet some dude's from this site.

Im probably gonna come into NYC and then bounce up to Rochester and then get a bus or something back down to CT.... this sounds reasonable to me, but then again I know fuck all about US geography.

Someone hit me up and let me know where exactly this thing is gonna happen though, so I can look for cheap hotels that I can crash at, cos Im not gonna have a car or any home base or anything so I wanna find somewhere as close as I can to save on transport. PM me or something it isnt cool to post the info in public.

tecoyah 03-20-2006 03:52 AM

Most people end up crashing at the house....but if you need a hotel there are several in the area. As we get closer to the date (still months away), these things will get worked out

Meditrina 03-21-2006 01:04 PM

I am getting very excited, this might really happen for me! My husband does not seem to mind if I go to Rochester without him. Now I just need to see if my mother in law will be around to watch the kids while he is at work.

tecoyah 03-21-2006 02:52 PM

That would be pure sweetness Widow.....keep us in the loop. You have a place to stay no prob.

amonkie 03-21-2006 04:58 PM

Yay!!! Widoww!!! If you need help convincing .. I would be glad to volunteer ;)

Supple Cow 03-23-2006 10:07 AM

I'm still a "maybe" because I'm at the will of ubertuber's rental car and my schedule, but if I do come, I'll have my laptop in tow as well.

Strange Famous 03-26-2006 06:22 AM

actually, you can count me out. I dont have any friends on this site, can't really think why this ever sounded like a good idea to me.

Because you actually do have friends on this site, but you tend to send them away whenever your feelings get hurt. But I would certainly not want someone here that does not actually want to come.

tecoyah 03-27-2006 03:18 PM

My apologies to all but, plans do not always come to fruition regardless of how hard we try. It seems I will not be able to take the time off for this event, and must unfortunately cancel the Rochester Get Together. Luckily we are still three months out which hopefully means little if anything other than Hope was invested in this event.

I am sorry for any dissapointment.

tecoyah 03-30-2006 04:40 PM

The Idea has arisen to make this a weekend party....as in late Friday/Saturday/Sunday, Which may be a possible. I would appreciate any Input on this.....

Meditrina 03-30-2006 04:51 PM

That should work for me. If my plan to leave the kids at my sister-in-law's works out. but you have to do what is best for you, Tec.

edited to say: any weekend would be ok with me. whatever works for the majority.

fresnelly 03-30-2006 05:13 PM

My plans haven't changed for that weekend. We're still driving through to Pittsburg, so I could absolutely attend on the Friday night.

amonkie 03-30-2006 06:12 PM

I'm in for whatever ... bein local this time helps :)

Just a reminder.. we did a Friday night/Sat/Sun last time and it went beautifully... just means more fun crammed in ...

Scorps 03-30-2006 11:36 PM

Need to know ahead of time so I can book time off work...and hopefully I have money!

ubertuber 03-31-2006 04:25 AM

I think that's pretty much as brilliant as before.

emmdubbs 03-31-2006 09:20 AM

yes it's still on...(looks down) and so are my pants. 2 for 2 today awright!

I think you assume I care more than I really do.

No one on here really hurts my feelings. The thing is, I post here for a bit, then someone does something that I don't like (like delete a thread I make because it doesnt properly encourage discussion or something like that) and I think "why do I come to a site run like this when I can go lots of places I can just say what I want and not have to worry about it...." so I dont bother to post that much.

There are a lot of people here I COULD be friends with if I had that much contact with them, but I simply dont really talk to many people here, cos the sites is so heavily moderated I dont come here a lot. I dont have friends here cos I dont talk to anyone here that often, thats all.

Esen 04-15-2006 02:27 PM

I'm a Maybe, If I can find a ride up there from NYC I might go.

Scorps 04-15-2006 04:15 PM

Wel I was in Ottawa last night and well the USA bridge isn't that far away, thought it would take longer, only problem I have is when I get to the states, I have no idea where to go. And now my cell phone isn't working.

tecoyah 04-16-2006 04:44 AM

I will provide any directions required, though its a pretty easy trip from Canada, or NYCity.
