"I am not a pervert" - Sometimes the mind boggles.

British tourist Sharon Tendler has finally made her dream match - by "marrying" a dolphin she has been visiting for 15 years in the Israeli resort of Eilat, the mass-circulation Yediot Ahronot daily reported today.

Ms Tendler, 41, has been visiting the city on the Gulf of Aqaba two or three times a year to spend time with her 35-year-old underwater sweetheart.

"The peace and tranquility under water, and his love, would calm me down," the Israeli daily quoted her as saying.

Last week, Ms Tendler finally plucked up the courage to ask the dolphin's trainer for the mammal's fin in marriage.

The wedding took place on Wednesday, with the bride - wearing a white dress and watched by amazed spectators - walking down the dock to where the groom was waiting in the water.

She kissed him, to the cheers of the spectators and then, after the ceremony was sealed with some mackerels, was tossed into the water so she could swim away with her new husband.

"I'm the happiest girl on earth," the bride was quoted as saying.

"I made a dream come true. And I am not a pervert."

... How is this even legal?! A dolphin? What in the name of...?

This woman has some serious issues.

It kinda keeps the light alive for my ultimate goal of marrying an Xbox 360.

Some people are just wierd, everyone knows their wierd but just laugh behind their hands.

This is one of said people.

I once had a ham sandwich that I loved and wanted to marry. Then I remembered that I'm already married. Then I ate the ham sandwich.

Somethings fishy about this story.
What does she look like?

Wait till the husband finds out what he got into.

redsfan11 12-31-2005 09:48 AM

My son wants to marry ketchup. I told him that we'd have none of their kind in this family. It's "catsup"...or no wedding.

Aladdin Sane 12-31-2005 09:51 AM

We can't judge. Where's your tolerance people?!

marriges between human n human isnt accepted by all countries...but a dolphin is?

fresnelly 12-31-2005 02:15 PM

This isn't so strange. Pee Wee Herman married a bowl of Fruit Salad just because he loved it so much. If I remember the news reports correctly, they later honeymooned in New York, where it ended badly.

World's King 12-31-2005 02:27 PM

I bet they wouldn't have let it happen if the dolphin was female.

Damn lesbian dolphins... ruining marriage

Hmmm.... yup, it's still strange.

flamingdog 12-31-2005 06:26 PM

At least I needn't die a single man. I'll marry something, I'm sure.

Willravel 12-31-2005 06:49 PM

What if the dolphin said no?

Slippery Slope 12-31-2005 06:50 PM

Oh come on now... I'd marry Daryl Hannah in a splash! erm.. flash.

Where is PETA now I ask? So if she dies, does the dolphin own her belongings...

Yeah, I'd say she was making the beast with one back and one dorsal fin with said dolphin.

DonovanDuVal 01-01-2006 07:51 AM

I...err...I..uhm...I....well I....damn!

I really can't say anything about this I'm still gibbering about the stupid cow. Yet I also can't not post something, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS WOMAN?

I glanced over this story in the press and I seem to remember that she was a multi millionaire. I reckon the dolphin is only in it for the money, what with her being the older partner.

albania 01-01-2006 11:43 AM

Will the dolphin get half of everything if they divorce?

JumpinJesus 01-01-2006 04:26 PM

I wonder if their children will be raised in the ocean or on land.

lurkette 01-01-2006 04:56 PM

WTF?!? Is this one of those "marriages" like when people dress up their dogs in gowns and tuxes and have them get married, or is this actually...legal? I'm just...um...wha....?

Wha...?

analog 01-01-2006 07:51 PM

When they left the ceremony, spectators threw rice and a flock of white tuna was released.

At the reception, the dolphin's brother came forward to say a few words, and then head-butted a football into a hoop. The main course was catered by the reception hall, and SeaWorld. The bridesmaids later lined up when the bride tossed a bouqet of seaweed over her shoulder. The groom caught a plastic garter belt on his nose, and tossed it over to the groomsmen.

Some of you are having way too much fun with this story.

It IS weird, though.

I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Well played.

genuinegirly 01-02-2006 09:49 AM

Now that's pretty nifty. I wonder what the advantages of marrying this dolphin are. Maybe she can now live in Eliat? In any case, it sounds like a woman who would rather enjoy nature than be stuck with a man for the rest of her life. Dolphins are pretty. I'd love to see some photos of the ceremony.

cowudders14 01-02-2006 02:05 PM

Eh? Wha? What hallucingenics was this woman taking? His love for her calmed her down? Oh please. It's a tame dolphin - it probably 'loves' all humans equally! Or perhaps with preference to those who bring it fish... :-)

Yep, this world has gone totally barmy!

Willravel 01-02-2006 02:12 PM

Dolphin = giggilo of the sea?

I wonder what her last name is going to be changed to? Will she hyphenate it?
