Giving Thanks

Well -- Happy Turkey Day everyone... in an effort to get me out of my crabbiness (I wanna reserve that for tomorow) I figgered it'd be a good time to mention what we're thankful for... (Yes, I'm a dork!! )

I'm making lemonade out of lemons.. It's snowing like a banchee out today and I really do not like snow... But -- I'm thankful that I live ont he first floor and could open my window and grab a bowlful of snow. I'm also thankful that I have new hampshire maple syrup in the cabinet and the ability to heat it up. I'm thankful that I really do love Sugar on Snow.. and it was as tasty as I remember.

So what's got you giving thanks today? Spending time with friends? A new pair of shoes on your feet? A well stocked liquor cabinet? Be thankful...

I'm thankful that I'm not in New Hampshire right now! It's going to top out at 65 or 70 degrees here. I give thanks for living in a town where "terrible weather" means 50 degrees and heavy rain. And we only get this combination about one month out of the year.

We're both unemployed, and the job search ain't going well. But we own the house and have money in the bank and are thankful for that. We've got a lot of slack. I give thanks for slack!

I'm thankful we still have a roof over our heads (and it doesn't leak)
I'm thankful that my body still works-even when I have to force it to.
I'm thankful for my children and how they're turning out-best job I ever did.
I'm thankful for the people I love and who love me in return.
I'm thankful for the powers of the universe that brought me to where I am and brought those loved ones to me.
I'm thankful for TFP and to the one who brought me here.

I'm thankful for a wonder wife and family, especially our new baby.
I'm thankful for friends who come over to spend the holiday with us.
And yes, I'm thankful for a place like TFP where I can get to know people that I normally would have no way of meeting.

I'm thankful for my wife, who is also my best friend.
I'm thankful for my family, as fucked up as they can be, for always being there for the both of us.
I'm thankful for my health, and thankful for my own realization that I needed to make some changes in order to better myself.
I'm thankful for all my friends, who I know would be there in a second if I needed them.
I'm thankful for Jess's stuffed mushrooms and her ginger snap cookies.
I'm thankful for the fact that the majority of my worries, at the moment, are petty.
I'm thankful for the TFP and all its members, especially the ones that I've gotten really close to.

Great thread, Mal.

This is a hard year for me and finding blessings. It's the first holiday season since my mother passed away. Still very fresh. Everything triggers memories. But I am thankful for the gifts she gave everyone. Gave me. Life, selfless values, compassion, unconditional love, and all the wonderful things a mother can be. Everyone, give a hug/toast/call to your mother. (Here's one of each for our Forum Mom. Thanks Mal!)

Thanks to Andrew and everybody here. For the chance to vent, learn, maybe help here and there, and most of all broaden my perspectives beyond this little closet community called home.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm thankful to be in London for Thanksgiving, where people are just doing their thing like they do on any other day.

I dislike all the rigamarole around this holiday for some reason... almost as much I hated the Christmas season before I had my own family.

I'm thankful that while I don't care too much for the holiday, I get a 4 day weekend every year, and if I take the 3 days off before it, if I leave on Friday night before thanksgiving I get a HUGE holiday

I'm thankful I'm sick with only the flu and not something more serious - even if not being in a turkey mood sucks after the year long anticipation

I'm thankful there are people in this world who love me because I am who I am .. and are just as excited as me to see where I will go.

I'm thankful for my significant other, who has proved to be the light of my life.

I'm thankful for my family, who cheer me on despite failure, and support me unconditionally. I'm thankful for my parents, who have proved to be great friends as well as great parents. I'm thankful for my brother, because even though he's an annoying little shit sometimes, he's still my brother and he tries his hardest.

I'm thankful for my friends, who keep me upbeat and together.

I'm thankful for the TFP, for the people it has brought into my life, and the chance it has given me to really share myself with others.

Furthermore, I'm thankful for all the chances I've had this year. I'm thankful for this list, for it has given me the chance to be honest without making my mother cry. I guarantee you, when I sit down for dinner with my family on Saturday, she will make us all go around the room and tell what we are thankful for. And the moment I say I am thankful for them and for my SO...the tears will start. But that's Mom for ya.

I am thankful that we went to my sister in law's for Thanksgiving. She lives close, I didn't have to cook, and we came home early because she goes to bed early.

I am thankful for my mother in law who keeps me sane, helps with the kids, helps with the house, and just plain old helps me. She is my best friend.

I am thankful for my children, they are my reason for living.

edited to add more:

I am thankful for TFP and all of the great people I have met so far. I have learned so much about people, myself and the world, and for that I am so grateful.

I'm a little late, but here goes:

I'm thankful that my husband came through his surgery more-or-less unscathed, so far.
I'm thankful for my family, crazy as they are.

I'm thankful for too many things to mention, really, but these are the top ones.

This year proved (and is still prevailing) to be unbelievably rough on me, a collection of mistakes and I'm sorry's defined its course. However, I am thankful for a lot of things..
I am thankful for my daughter and her spunk..
I am thankful for those I love..
I am thankful that I don't have it as bad as other people..
I am thankful for the forgiveness which I have been blessed with time and time again.
I am thankful to the person who invented hoodies cause they allow me to be outside..

I am thankful I was too busy with wonderful events and loving people to stop and think about what all I am truly thankful for.

After a great amount of trepidation, I am thankful I moved here to be with my wife.

I am thankful for 4 weeks of truly disheartening interviews and job searches, because that made me appreciate it all the more when the first offer came, then the second, then the third. I am thankful the job offer I accepted was for considerably more than they initially said it would be.

I am thankful for family, pets, good music, good books, and the Autumnal nip in the air. And the opportunity to finally not stress.
