Well Ok then... this woman is seriously disturbed... she wasn't popular in high school 25 years ago, and now was fitting in... Ummm.. sure...

That has been big news around here. This woman seriously deserved what she got. The SUV crash mentioned in the article happened after she was convicted. The SUV was being driven by a fourteen year old. Even after being convicted of all the bad things she was doing, she still went right back to trying to be the cool mom, letting a fourteen year old drive down the interstate at 75 mph.

Wow. Maybe if she was a milf... but no, she did this because she wasn't... Yeah. This is definitely a weird case.

I want to know about the SUV accident. Was she so upset that she tried to kill herself, or does she just suck at driving?

I think those additional charges, while not as sexy as contributing the delinquency of a minor, were way more serious...

"Mom" has definately got some serious issues, to say the least. So she "was never popular with classmates in high school". Big deal! Neither were most of us...we deal, or have dealt, with it in a manner that doesn't involve boinking teenagers. Ok, so she's not a "MILF". You still can't tell me that she couldn't get someone closer to her own age to make her feel...better. (Although, I'm kinda likin' her attorney. ;) )

I don't really mind that she got 30, but you see cases of violent rape and murder get less, so it seems a little out of whack in that sense.

Indeed. 30 seems like too much when you compare it to other crimes that are more heinous but get lighter sentences.

I have multiple solutions for this, and amazingly none of them release the violent offenders early.

I feel bad for her. I know there are several charges but 30 years in prison just seems like way too much.

She needs intensive counseling and maybe a few years behind bars.

I guess some people just simply cannot function in this world. She is a good example of a person that turns loony and ends up homeless and poor on the streets. Instead that happening, she is going to have a place to stay now. Prison. I guess the bum thing will come after prison.

female prisons aren't very violent. the sexual relationships are more voluntary. I don't think she'll be getting raped in prison.

As much as I think this woman needs counseling in a secure institution, I have to wonder what the F these teenage boys were thinking? I don't think I could have even begun to... function... with a woman like that.

I think like Mal said, it was the other charges that got her the bulk of the time. It's just these that are being more heavily reported on.

I'm sure these types of things would still be said had it been a 40 year old man and 15 year old girls right? Just give him some counselling and maybe two years in prision . . . .right . . . . .right?

Seriously...I have a few myself. But the key words rest more on "none of them release the violent offenders early.

I probably would but I have gotten flack on other forums for being light against "sexual predators". The thing is she is not a serial rapist. She was clearly unpopular in high school, as she stated and I am inclinded to believe her.. and was not raised with good moral fiber herself. She does need counseling. In my opinon the only thing in question here is the length of the sentencing. I personally do believe it is excessive. I don't believe the other charges did subsationally add to her sentence her, the only one I could see doing that was assualt and though I have heard no details it was "third-degree" and considering that murder in the third degree doesn't always get 30 years I don't really think that is the case. I think it is moot though, that sentance will almost defintily come down in appeals, probably to half the current one. I would be shocked if she spent more then 10 years behind bars.

Yeah, I wouldn't think a 30 year sentence wouldn't be so bad for a man. Just bein honest. The thing is, I don't think a woman can be as much of a sexual predator as a man. Women seem more harmless. They are more harmless than men. It all just depends. In this particular situation I just don't think she deserves that much time.

But seriously my main problem with this woman's sentencing is as others have mentioned, a good many violent offenders are not getting near the same punishment.

The words one picks can be important.

Is the issue that it is unfair that she got 30 years or that others, perhaps more deserving get less?

I would change what you said to, the problem with violent offenders is they are not getting near the same punishment as this woman .

To me the problem is not that she got 30 years, hell because she is non-violent I would be surprised if she sees half that, but that others are not being punished enough.

Because of this, it doesn't mean we should go easier on this woman, but instead should go harder on others.

And that is where I want to go.

30 years is a gift. She should never be getting out.

Hey I appreciate your honesty. But I will have to STRONGLY disagree with your above statement. In my opinion the reason you feel this way is the media and popular news go out of their way to make sure stories such as this where women are the ones doing the abusing are swept under the rug. Only very recently are we starting to see the opposite . . thank god.

I've personally seen it, where a man drunk drives, kills a mother of 2 and leaves the 2 children motherless. He got 2 years, 6 months already served.

You could also argue that the drunk was acting irresponsibly but had no intent to commit homicide, while she knew exactly what her actions were.

I think that 30 years is abit harsh. You can go out and murder someone and not get a sentance like that. What she done was wrong particuraly the sex with the minors. But me being a parent as far as the drinking goes I would rather my kids do it at home under my supervison than out god knows were my parents were like that I drank a few times and that was it I hardly ever drink now I have friends that their parents were super strict on that and they are achohlics now go figure.

I'm inclined to think that this kind of predation would do alot more damage to a 15yr old girl than a 15yr old boy (who will probably have a grin for the rest of his life).

Considering all she did, i think 10yrs, tops, is a good sentance.

I went to scholl with a guy that violently murdered someone and got 27 years. She is one messed up individual, but 30 years? I think counseling would do her (and society) more good.

The US should send all prisoners to an enormous compound in Arizona where they can duke it out on national television. Last one standing wins his freedom and a gift basket from Wal-Mart.

30 years is way too much. In Portugal we have no death penalty and no life sentences - maximum time is 25 years.

Seeing as nobody did anything against their will, this is relatively subjective crime. I'm not arguing that it isn't a crime, but given her age and life expectancy - surely this isn't a crime worthy of, what seems effectively to be, a life sentence?

THANK YOU, I was hoping and praying that I wasn't the only one that saw this. COME ON they were HS BOYS, how many men here during HS weren't sex crazed (please tell me I'm not the only one)?!? Now I would I have gone for her :hmm: uhhh NO!!! Every one has there preference though. I'm sure these boys knew what they where getting into when they went there, it was happening for a whole year. Come on like something like this isn't going to be floating around the damn school. Hell she slept with like what 5 of them that means at least one told their friend about this happening.

Now is this wrong yes, yes it is in every way. Should she have gotten so long, in my opinion no. Would a man have gotten like 30 to life if not shot by an offended father, YES.

I don't know, thinking back to when I was fourteen, no matter how much of a repressed randy little devil I was, I am with Poppinjay, no way could I have got it on with her. The free drugs and alcohol may have seen me round there with friends, but anything else would have to be a violation.

Although she threw a party for this gang of eight lads once a week for a whole year before she was rumbled. I'm guessing that they were taking advantage of her a little as well. She may supply the booze and drugs, but they still went round there.

Still I guess she was the adult, and should have been the responsible one. Even though thirty does seem a little steep, but without the details that the court heard I'm in no position to judge.

I can't help but wonder - if the mom was an attractive, young, pregnant schoolteacher in Florida with a passionate lawyer she'd get off with a lesser sentence ....
