Is this ebayer trying to scam me?

I won this auction last night:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

and then I recieved this email this morning:
Quote:
Item: Athlon MP 2800+ (6812561689)
This message was sent after the listing closed.
kryptic.designs is the seller.
---------------------------------------
Good morning, before I ship this out I wanted to verify that you understand that this sale was for one processor only, I had 2 auctions going and didnt realize until last night that the wording looked like i was selling 2 processors in each auction. If you were under the understanding that you were receiving 2 processors then I will gladly refund your money. Please let me know asap.
I paid immediately. What are my options?

Just what he said, it would seem. Ask for a refund. Or ask for half a refund and get one processor. Did you bother to check to see if what he was asking was a fair price? Has he sold on ebay before?
Lesson learned, I reckon....

hmmp looking at the listing to me seems like it's 2 procs from the photo to the wording of the copy.

I'd ask for a FULL refund.

Yeah, two new ones go for $340 on ebay--BIN.

So, I checked his other auctions. And he has another one exactly like this...and some memory. The difference on the memory is that he doesn't have a picture of all 4 laying there (I thought the same as cynthetiq).

But the other auction went for slightly over $200. There couldn't really be any way this guy thought he was going to get over $350 for two used 2800's, unless he isn't rational. It looks like he ran two concurrent auctions and is selling the pair to the highest bidder between the two.

He is offering a refund, but I'd rather get the processors...
hmm, I wonder what the other buyer is doing, I guess I can email him.

while you'd rather get the processors I'd shy away from him since IMO he's not upfront and honest about his auctions. I'd say the same thing, he's trying to squeeze out a little extra and get the "oops my mistake don't rate me bad" freebie.

If you decide to go forward and take one proc... then of course.. it's the same normal caveat it would have been.

I believe you have the right to have both processors.

If it says 2 processors for sale, the picture shows 2 processor for sale and it just so happens that the sellers "discovers" the mistake at the end of the auction but not in the middle of it...

hmm..interesting...

Thank you cynthetiq for the response.
I agree with yah--I was thinking two procs or none (not one for $150).
But you raise a really good point, if the seller acts sketchy, then the product may be sketchy too.

I dont think he was trying to scam you but his ad was a little misleading. he could have edited his ad when he realized what happened. He has had positive feedback thus far and seems legit but I would get my money back and try again. happy ebaying. God would shop there is God shopped.

I would go with your idea smooth.
Just seeing which auction gets the most money and go with that one.
its sad we think this, but this is the way the world works now, esp with the internet and not knowing the people.
im not knowledgeable about ebay, ive never used it. but could you force him to give you both of them? with the law?

the listing was indeed a "kryptic.design"

maybe the seller is just terrible at communicating, although ebay has it's share of scammers. the seller has edited the other listing, though...single processor is stated twice.

This is pretty much what I wanted to know at the outset, but nothing really looks like that would be the case. I guess it's pretty much if something really goes bad, you'd likely get your money back; not much in the way of making someone actually give me the merchandise. I got screwed out of other options I could have gone for, too....damn

hmm, so the other processor is up for sale. That's odd, I should leave neg feedback at this point I made a PDF of my auction, though. I have no idea what he's thinking, who is going to buy a single MP processor...?

I would take the back door, that was left open for you, and get out. Which, judging from the negative feedback that you left, you already did.

I "moved on" after I posted negative feedback and recieved my refund.

lmao, come on cynthetiq, you know if I hadn't posted that "resolution" someone would pull this thread up weeks from now with the "what happened?" post...

edit: the surprise came from the fact that the seller revised the original sale of the "single" procesor to now include both of them...which is, wonder of wonders, how both of us buyers thought he was already selling them. And his starting bid is $150, to boot.

LOL. That was the first thing I noticed too! I dunno. At first I thought this guy might be trying some sort of bait and switch thing. Like word it just vaguely enough that you would think you are getting two to up the price of one or something. Now I just question his sanity...

To be honest, that's what I thought as well. But you don't really want to do business with someone like that. Especially over something like ebay. He deserves his negative feedback, whether it was intentful or not.

I wonder why in the hell the seller would sell them separately. That doesn't make any sense at all. They don't work unless they are paired with another one.

Get your money back, walk away.
