Describing a knot tying technique is difficult to do with words only.
I tie with the standard two loop method, but then cross and twist them over each other for an added locking knot. Buy shorter laces and keep on rocking.

You could try Ian's Shoelace Site - Shoelace Knots - How To Tie Your Shoes. He lists 15 methods; I think I'll be sticking to the bunny ears, however.

If you don't want any laces at all, you can replace them with thin elastic strips.
Lace a strip through the holes fairly tightly (be sure to leave enough 'give' in it to be able to slip your foot in), then tie it off on the end and snip any excess elastic off. Now you have slip on shoes.

to hide the laces tied (bunny ears)
depends what kind of shoes you have... if you have a tongue try just reversing your last string so it goes into the shoe instead of out and then tie them inside of the shoe. I have a pair like this and I never notice the bunch up inside. you can wear this with shorts and it isnt noticable. that or I do the same, have laces go in. but I find the fit I like and just do a simple knot inside of the shoe touching the shoe, that way it would get any un/tighter. I have both done on different shoes I have, depends on my lazyness when I first get my shoes. both work great. both I believer are what your looking for. never tie shoes again. |

How can you tie your shoes cooler?
Try tying them to a beat- like humming the music to a porn while bent over tying them with your butt in the air. That is cool. Or, you could tie them while smoking. Smoking is cool.

Just want to add that I really dont like the laces of today. They seem to be made of nylon and slowly thru the day beacome looser and looser and finally undo. Now I know the double knot would solve this problem but then I have a had time undoing them. I like the old cotton ones, and have to buy them separately which adds to the cost of new shoes. (I am really having a boring day if this is bothering me .....lol)

Lace it so the ends end up on the "inside" of the shoe, then do the bunny ears, double knot, and pull everything thats left over between the tongue and the laces. As long as you are just stomping your feet into them, it should semi-effectivly hide the laces. Be one hell of a pain if you actually tie your shoes every time you put them on though.

Sweet merciful crap! All my life I've had trouble with shoes coming untied. Some where better than others, I'd always assumed it was just the laces. However, accoding to IAN there I've been tying a "slip knot" all my life. INSANE. Today my friends, is the first day of the rest of my shoes-coming-untied-free life.
