Dog luvas?

Who here is a dog luva? I have a pug, and he is just like my child. Dogs really are like furry children .

Chinese Shar-Pei. Not a choice for everyone. Don't care what the books say - she's purebred, and nothing like what they describe. Friendly? Not if she doesn't know you, and even then...

When I was growing up, I had a dog that I loved dearly. She was a beagle terrier mix...a mutt, but a lovable dog. Everyone in the neighborhood loved her and she was invited to all the cookouts . I got her when I was 7 by walking in the humane society and saying Brandy...she was the first puppy to come to me She died when I was 20 and it broke my heart. Espeically because she died when I was carrying her in the house. She had congestive heart failure and could barely walk anymore. I remember her eyes meeting mine, her tail wagged, and then she was gone still in my arms. I swore I would never have a dog again because that was the worst pain ever. Since I was an only child and my parents were always working, she was like my sister. So, yes I am a dog luva, but the pain of losing someone you love so much is too much for me to have another one...at least now.

been there. My beloved sister( Boston Terrier) passed away when I was 17. I had to take 3 days off from school and I cried for months, I still cry now, and it was 10 years ago. She was the love of my life. I couldn't go forever without one though..my heart was too empty. I got my new baby a year ago, a 2 yr old chihuahua/jack russel who is my angel.

cant have kids so our dogs fill the gap. Both are loved and spoilt but they are also trained and obidient. The pain of losing them is overshadowed by the joy and laughter they provide

Oh man, yes. Just not poodles. I'll share my home with a pooch again once things settle down. Now just isn't the time.

We have a chow mix rescue dog who is the gentlest, sweetest dog I've ever met. She loves everyone and she does that cute little squinty grin that means she's glad to see you. I'm thinking of fostering other rescue dogs so we can give more pets a good home, and give Cooper someone to play with.

[B]I have a dachshund who is my contant companion. She is older and I know some day I will have to face a major loss. But in the meantime she is a lot of comfort and my sidekick.

I've got a jack russel/bull terrier mix. She's only 25lbs, but that dog is freakin nuts. She's a real smart dog, but she's got more energy than any dog I've seen. I take her to the gulf and I'm standing in waist deep water fishing, she will come swim up to me and doggie-tread water until I pick her up and give her a rest. Literally she will swim for 30min before I pick her up so she can puke up all the salt water she swallows. She'll swim until she drowns if no one is watching. She'll go underwater (I've seen as deep as 8 feet) to fetch things at the bottom of the pool. If you put her on a dog track with a tennis ball replacing the rabbit you could get her to run a mile in 2 minutes. She climbs 6ft chain linked fences and jumps over the 4ft ones. She will fetch tennis balls for hours going full speed the whole time. I've taken her to the dog park and she's run full speed for over 2 hours straight. She'll take a frisbe 5ft out of the air. She does everything a dog owner wants his dog to do, but she doesn't have an off button. This dog is completely nuts, but I love her. She makes me smile.
