While I can hardly blame the boy's parents for not wanting to subject him to the trauma of a trial, it's difficult for me to stomach the idea of a confessed child molestor getting any leniency.

Child molesters are the lowest filth on the planet. I don't see how the state allows the parents to say, "no trial". Bullshit. That woman needs to be put away. |

I can never conjure the appropriate words to express the level of disgust I feel towards child molesters. Since I don't exactly wish to let fly a stream of expletives, I prefer to say that I sincerely hope that karma catches up to this woman in a hurry.

This makes me sick! Mental problem? Yeah, anybody who molests children has mental problems! In my opinion there are no deals to be had. She should be punished just as a male would be. In addidtion, there are ways to try a preditor without causing undue stress on the child. This young boy is likely to suffer years of emotional distress due to the invalidation of his parents almost as much as he will by the sexual invasion itself. grrrr

I found this story regarding the case which says she was sentenced to 12 years but suspended after 6 years in prison. In other words, she only serves half of the 12 years unless she violates the rest of the terms of probation. It also states that with time served and good behavior, she could be out in four years. Not nearly enough time for the crime committed.

Well first off.... Thank God this didn't happen in Texas...we have enough of her kind locked up already. I also agree that had it been a man, I doubt there would have been any offer made. I guess for some reason they think women child molesters are not as bad as their male counterparts. To me a child molester is a child molester, regardless of gender. Not to threadjack here, but I would like to add to this discussion if I may. Having firsthand experience dealing with this sort of inmate within Texas prisons, I know for a fact that their lives behind bars is anything but pleasant. I agree with locking them up, and locking them up for a long time, and allowing them to experience prison life for as long as possible. But, my problem is this...In Texas there is no such thing as rehabilitation really. If inmates change any, it is because they want to, and that's it. The general public has this get tough on crime stance all through the discovery of what the criminal did, continuing on thru the trial, and right up to conviction and incarceration.... then that's where it stops. Then people like me get to deal with the crap that gets sent our way, knowing our hands are tied on what we can do, say or hwo we are allowed to treat these scumbags. So, what will happen is she will do her time, then get out, register as a sex offender, and then what? I see it all the time.... inmates discharged after completing their sentence, or paroled early for good behavior (especially sex offenders)....only to offend again, and then they're right back in prison for us to deal with. In most cases the inmates discharging are worse than when they were originally incarcerated. If we could get past the shock of what she actually did, we also need to be asking ourselves, what is the best way to punish this person, and if it is incarceration.... why don't taxpayers want to fund programs aimed at rehabilitation, and reducing recidivism, or why aren't the penalties for this sort of crime a LOT harsher than they are right now? Either sentences need to be lengthened just to keep sex offenders off the streets if that is our goal, or do something with them while they are locked up if we are just gonan let them out in a few years.... All I see right now is a revolving door.. What's wrong with that picture? /end threadjack

I somewhat wonder if it wouldn't have been better for the boy to testify. Not that I would want him to have to relive that time in his life but I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't be crucial to his emotional healing to confront the offender and see that she got seriously punished. For an 8 yr old I cannot imagine the damage she's done. Not that it's easier on any other age, but 8 yrs old is a VERY formative age where it will take a lot for him to unlearn what she has 'taught' him. I am glad that his parents don't seem vindictive because that would make matters worse for him.

there is a certain double standard going on here, if the perp. had been a male, authorities would have gone to trial, not allowed a plea deal. I hope this disturbed woman gets what she deserves to the extent of the law.

i for one think like an animal in some ways. I feel the idea of setteling down and marrying someone is crazy. this was brought on by religion. monkeys dont marry other monkeys. there are a few species that have one mate, but if we didnt have religion i dont feel we would be one of them. I think that something with a child that young is wrong, because my parents and society taught me that. but what is the difference between a 17 yr and an 18 yr old... ehh maybe a few hairs? hope this dosent make me look like so physcho rapist. its no ment that way...because im not a physco rapist@!
