Only if we kill the female child molesters too.

I have to take exception to the title of this thread. Granted, it doesn't get the Rick James "FOUR THUMBS DOWWWNN!" that I reserve for the "I have a problem..." or "Quick question..." thread titles that plague Tilted Sexuality, but still.
You are not advocating reducing the budget at all, nor are the steps easy in the least. You are telling us to kill convicted criminals. Human Beings. There is only one guy that can truly make that judgement, IMHO, and we crucified that poor fucker two millenia ago. I would suggest that thread titles such as: Death Penalty: Cost saving measure? Death Row = waste of Tax Dollars Killing is cheaper than Housing and on and on... you can state your point much clearer, and give people a little "Heads Up" on what they are about to read. The clearer the title, the less the thread-jack as well, since I can jump in at any time and give you TOTALLY DIFFERENT ways to reduce the budget deficit, provide three easy steps (Look at my original reply to this thread. Did I talk about the death penalty at all? Nope. You could change a flat tire with that jack!) and not address the spirit of this thread at all. I like to think that Titles are important. I also think that the TFP would be a better place if people placed more time and energy into a coherent, short and relevant title. That is all. Continue talking about killing people. Quote:

Well said, Bigben931, how many threads would stay on topic more if people just referred back to the title before replying!? I realize the irony in what I'm saying, since it has nothing to do with reducing the budget deficit, but I thought it was important to lend my voice in support.

I did think about that titling thing, but, alas, couldn't come up with something better at 3:00 in the morning.
The statistics that have been presented aren't very helpful to an argument against this policy. According to the links, there were 8,470 sucessfully appealed convictions from 1988-1999. According to the Bureau of Justice, the capacity of all prisons in the US totals 1,278,471. So at the most, wrongly convicted criminals make up .62 percent of the prison population. There were less than 200 overturned by DNA evidence, that tallies to less than one-tenth of a percent. Comparatively, I know people with more people on their AIM buddy list. It's an extremely small margin of error. |
So you are suggesting that a margin of error is acceptable when taking someone's life?
If you believe in God, pray you don't win *that* lottery. |
I'm still trying to figure how the 'let's kill this guy cuz he killed someone' thing works. Wouldn't that just start a never ending train of death?
