Something to share
I wasn't exactly sure where to post this... but it is in reference to communities helping for the diaster victims of Katrina.
I'm a avid player of EverQuest 2. I'm not sure who else is, but I had to share something in their notes that they placed up today.
Quote:
Please Lend a Helping Hand in the Wake of Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina has left an incredible wake of destruction across the Mid-Atlantic States. Sony Online Entertainment would like to ask you to take a moment to make a donation to the American Red Cross in order to help alleviate some of the suffering.
In EverQuest II we have added the /donate command--type in /donate to be taken to the American Red Cross's Hurricane 2005 relief page. The American Red Cross will process your donation and make sure that it is put to maximum use to help those whose lives have been affected by the hurricane.
For our 13,000+ players in the affected areas, we will be suspending billing until such time as they are able to play again. In addition, any items or structures in any of our games that decay over time will be preserved until the user's next login.
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.

I commend them for suspending billing for those affected in that area as well as placing a way to donate to the American Red Cross. How many other gaming companies are doing this? How do you feel about having this option? Do you think it's a silly thing to do within a game? Are you suspicious?
I'm not saying anything about them doing this for the right or wrong reasons. But, I think that would be a great option for those outside the US that would like to donate for their online friends they've made that are in that area.

Hope I did the quoting right. This came direct from within the game login and not a news article. However it may be posted on their website, I just noticed once I logged in.
