It is busted right now, but at the website http://www.ahding.com/cheapgas/ will give you the GasBuddy data overlaid onto Google Maps. Way cool, when it works...

I've been using gasbuddy.com since gas tipped the $2 mark here.

Don't forget to add your own information as well. A greased wheel keeps the...well, whatever, you know what I mean.

It would be very useful to many people if you could contact your local radio stations and tv stations and give them the link to that site. I've been e-mailing and submitting info about it to the ones in my area.

People that drive 20 miles out of the way to get gas that is a few cents cheaper really grate my nerves. That site does have some good deals, but none of them are more than 5 cents cheaper than in my area, and I'd have to drive 30+ miles to get it 5 cents cheaper. Why are some people so obsessed with getting the cheapest gas? My grandpa will drive 20+ miles out of the way to get gas 1 penny cheaper (not kidding). I keep telling these people that the cost of driving to the cheaper gas outweighs the benefit of getting it a few cents cheaper, but they never care -- all the care about is getting it the cheapest. Weirdos.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today released the optional standard mileage rates to use for 2005 in computing the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving expense purposes.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2005, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (including vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be 40.5 cents a mile for all business miles driven...

That accounts for insurance, wear and tear, etc. Even driving one mile out of the way appears to be a loss.
