yep, you read the title right...

the deed to the White House is up for sale on ebay!

apparently the U.S. Government cannot find the original deed...

Actually, you have to give someone 90 to be out by law. It wouldn't matter though; the government would enact that eminent domain thing the Supreme Court just passed and you'd be fucked anyway.

Eminent domain has been around since the Constitution was written and it's always allowed for the government to take away private property for public good. It's only since the Supreme Court decision that they've allowed it to take away private property for corporate good.

Exactly what I was thinking. I didn't have time to do a lot of reading about the original article, but I suspected it was a publicity stunt of some kind. Glad to see I wasn't alone in thinking like that

The interesting thing is that a)he doesn't show the deed itself, and b) he says it is a quitclaim deed.

Now, anyone can file a quitclaim deed. I could file a quitclaim deed, quitting all my interest in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. It matters not one whit that I have no interest in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

My guess is that he got someone to file a quitclaim quitting all their interest in the white house to him, and he is offering that for sale. That doesn't mean the person doing the quitclaim has any claim to quit.

yeah, interesting historical tidbit that ammounts to nothing in the real world- and ya cant fight city hall on this one anyway, so it equals nothing but a publicity stunt.....but at least an interesting one.....
