I always thought there are too many variables when tossing a coin to predict whether it will land one side or the other. Saying one side is heavier wont make any signifigant difference when you take into considoration the way its tossed, velosity, spin, wind speed, air density, barometric pressure, age & type of the coin & so on. Im sure if you did a few million tosses one side would come up tops but every toss is independant from the previous one. If the coin came up tails ten times in a row the chances of it hitting tails the eleventh time are just the same as any other toss.

Having said that, I chose tails

There was a team of gamblers from a while ago who learned to control dice. They could throw with a much higher probability of getting certain numbers as long as they kept their throwing style as close to exactly the same as possible, they could control the outcomes of the throws (for the most part). I know it's not the same, but the idea is similar. Of course, it took them months or years to perfect this, and Smeth only has another hour.

I voted tails for no particular reason, it's just the first that came to mind...

Good luck!

Always heads. Something about the face, I guess.

Well?

Can we assume from your silence that you got the small room and it depressed you?

Or you got the big room and you are so happy you went out to celebrate?

We need to know...... :|

heh, well, it came down to the third coin toss...and the first two were tails. Who'd have thought the third would be too? I didn't.

Oh well. Like I said, before, while I obviously would have preferred the other room, the smaller one has some perks. Whichever room I would have gotten, I would have brought the same 3 pieces of bedroom furniture. In the large room, it would have been quite empty, and in the small room, my dresser and bed can fit fine and I can put my comp desk in the living room. So, it doesn't mean that I don't have room for my stuff or anything, and on top of that it means I get to pay a cheaper rent:) Instead of paying 650/mo, I get to pay 450/mo, and that's an AWESOME price for the location this apt is in :)

Humbug, coins aren't random. Mainly because how easy it is to cheat on a coin flip.

A coin-based random number:

You both get a coin and a piece of cardboard.

One of you calls even, the other calls odd.

Both of you place your coin, secretly, under the paper.

You both reviel your coin at the same time.

If they are both the same way up, even wins. If they are different, odd wins.

By the way, you can even do this (or something equivilent) if your roommate forces you to call it. Get your cardboard and your coin. Place your coin under the cardboard, and say "I call whatever is face up on the coin under this cardboard". Your roommate flips (or really, does anything to the coin), and displays his coin. You then reviel the coin under the cardboard.
