Anyone else like the taste of soap?

...not like "yum yum, let me eat this soap" kind, but enjoy nonetheless. I wash my face two or three times a day, and I've got to admit that when soap gets on my lips I really don't mind. Likewise, I wouldn't drink soapy water, but I kinda like the taste when I rinse with it.. ? Bizarre?

Ahh - bet you have never had to eat a bar of Ivory Soap when you were a kid for having a naughty mouth... :) OK, not exactly eat it but have it in your mouth for 5 minutes.. Ptoooey....

Blowing bubbles are fun - -soap is not so very fun..

ShaniFaye 07-25-2005 09:23 AM

with us it was Dial....an nope, soap taste isnt for me

Blaise 07-25-2005 09:35 AM

I love Lush soap and sometimes I can't resist sampling it just to see if it tastes as good as it smells. I've tried honey, orange and cinnamon, apple and mint, strawberry and vanilla, kiwi/other fruit scented.. not quite as tasty as they look though, I'm not a fan of the taste of soap :p

shesus 07-25-2005 09:42 AM

I have to disagree about liking the taste of soap. When I was younger, I had Dawn in my mouth to 'clean it' and it was horrible. If I get any soap near my mouth, I spit more than a sailor. Ptooey

StanT 07-25-2005 09:44 AM

While the taste of Zest had no effect on my use of 4 letter words, it's not something I'd eat by choice.

cyrnel 07-25-2005 09:56 AM

This explains much.

:)

Seriously, no thank you. What kind of soap? I imagine some are less awful than others.

Jinn 07-25-2005 10:38 AM

dial hand soap.. its like fruit infusion or something.. when its all bubbly and soap-sudsy..

yea.... okayyy.. nevermind :)

El Pollo 07-25-2005 10:50 AM

Ewww.
Plus eating soap will give you some bad diarrhea, or so I've heard...

Pronunciation: 'sOp
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English sope, from Old English sApe; akin to Old High German seifa soap
1 a : a foul tasting cleansing and emulsifying agent made usually by action of alkali on fat or fatty acids and consisting essentially of sodium or potassium salts of such acids.
2 : same without foul taste sometimes known as CHICK DRINK.
3 : SOAP OPERA
---

Yep, fruit infusion. Sounds like a chick drink to me.

As a little kid I was visiting my aunt & uncle. They had a bar of Irish Spring in their bathroom. I had never used that kind before and it smelled so good that I thought for sure it was candy, so I took a big lick.

Only one. :|

My mom did the 'washing my mouth out with soap' thing, as well. Using Dawn dishwashing liquid.

Parents can be cruel. ;)

Oh it does.

When I was younger, my sister had the unenviable task of cleaning up the kitchen after losing a particular heated game of yahtzee.

She did it half-assed and let the soap dry on the dishes before rinsing them off and everybody in the house...well, it wasn't pretty. :)

Serioussly though..i dnt no abou soap..i guess its pretty edible its not goin to be toxic is it and a lot of it is based on fat, which we eat anyways!

i used to eat the bubbles in a bubble bath..still do sometimes..i dont know why..

Uhhmmmm....I like the taste of the body wash, the Dove is delicious. Some conditioners taste really good too. Bar soap is gross, I can't believe you like the taste of that. Thats weird!

Jinn 07-25-2005 01:21 PM

No, no, no! Not bar soap! EWWW!! Liquid hand soap..

Redlemon 07-25-2005 01:42 PM

When my wife was a child, she had to keep watch over her younger sister in the bathtub to keep her from eating the soap. So, there's one vote for "likes soap".

icecoast 07-25-2005 01:56 PM

Gonna have to go with NO on this one.

RolandGilead 07-25-2005 02:20 PM

I never thought that this is really a common procedure for parents to "wash" their childrens mouths. Scary. I just know it from old movies

fhqwhgads 07-25-2005 02:34 PM

I like soap. Chicken noodle soap.

I guess if I have nothing of value to add, I should just shut the hell up, 'eh?

optik_nerve 07-25-2005 07:27 PM

Yea, I too (joining many others), am going to have to pass on this one...and yes, I too got the soap treatment for using 4 letter words....also hot powder seasoning...icky.

CSflim 07-25-2005 07:40 PM

Holy shit! I always thought "I'll wash your mouth out with a bar of soap" was a figure of speech.

Learn something new everyday...

Paq 07-25-2005 09:44 PM

hey, eating soap can do quite a few NASTY things to you. 1, it can eat away the lining on your tongue making it painful to taste anything. 2, it can eat away the lining of your esophagus. 3. it can eat away the lining of your stomach.

wiht that said, if you're gonna wash a kid's mouth out with soap, use ivory. Pure ingredients and nothing too nasty.

:)

and yes, if you ever want to get a restaurant in a LOT of trouble, turn off hte final rinse of the dishwasher, leave a fine film of soap, and watch the festivities. Seriously, most people won't be able to finish dinner before they need a trip to the restroom...for an hour...

getwonk'd 07-26-2005 04:27 AM

When my mom put a new bar of soap in the bath when we were younger, my sister always took a big ol' bite of the new soap. I wonder if she still does it?

Jinn 12-04-2010 01:54 PM

I'm bumping this thread because it makes me laugh - I have no idea what 2005 Jinn was thinking, but I don't particularly like the taste of soap now, that's for sure.

Lindy 12-04-2010 10:57 PM

I hate the taste and mouth feel of toothpaste. I hate the taste of mint in general. The only toothpaste I've ever been able to tolerate is fennel flavor as sold by Tom's of Maine. As far as soap goes, I usually brush my teeth in the shower, and have brushed my teeth with a small amount of Kirk's Castile Soap, which is my favorite shower soap. It has hardly any taste at all, and I much prefer it to Colgate, etc.

Xerxys 12-05-2010 12:07 AM

Oh man, I hate the taste of soap! It's incredibly foul and bitter! Dude, I don't think 5 years is enough to forgive you for this!

bagatelle 12-05-2010 12:37 AM

Not very tempting. When I was a kid, my grandmother threatened to wash our mouths with soap, if we used bad language (my siblings or cousins). She must have given the treatment to one of us at least.

LOL! The little sister I never knew I had.

BadNick 12-05-2010 08:56 AM

What's not to like? In addition to the flavors and scents additives, the basic ingredients are usually the stuff boiled off of dead animal carcases and other animal waste products....yummy That's why they just change the "u" to an "a".

Ourcrazymodern? 12-05-2010 12:16 PM

The taste of soap? Inedible. I always felt more like cussing after getting my mouth washed out than before.
