A New Crusade?
I just watched a CNN interview where a British Muslim who was in office in a small town in Briton was going on on how Muslims are being "Butcherd" all over the world and then proceeded to name several different occasions such as Kosovo and Palastine. He also said that the world is doing not enough to stop this. Now the Question is, will this all lead to a perverbial "crusade". A repeat of the old Christian VS Muslim war. It seems to me that this is the way things are going. I personally something has to be done before the rift becomes too big to close. We both believe in princple in the same God, with some differances but still close. What can we do? how can both sides start to trust eachother and stop the vicious cycle?

I can't possibly imagine that there would be a crusade against the muslims - they're the world's largest religion (if I remember correctly). I'm sure you can name a bunch of different locations where Christians are being "butchered" (or substitute whatever descriptor, be it religious-based or skin-tone based you like).
In my mind, I don't think that John Q. Public sees this as a religious issue at all and I don't think that having the religions sit down and agree to play nice will help things. Palestine is being fought more over land than religion. Also, you'd generally need the same group of people antagonizing in all situations to truly become a crusade, as the Jews don't (I don't think) have anything to do with Kosovo. |

Where have you been?
The war has already started. The West is now in a religious war, not of its own making, with thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of Jihadists who believe they get to go to Heaven, if only they can manage to kill one infidel (non-Muslim). They don't make it a secret that they are in a "holy war" against "Crusaders." We in the West were so sure that in the 21st century we would be driving flying cars and taking vacations to Mars, we are completely dumbfounded to find ourselves in a religious war with 14th century barbarians. Is wasn't thought possible. But here we are. Look around. Soldiers on both sides are already in the field. Want it or not, we've got it. The question is, what are we gonna do with it?

hm.
I can't help but think that all of these "jihadists" and "suicide bombers" are but the demons let loosed upon this world during what the Bible calls-"end times." ______________________________________________________

But...anyway, I seriously doubt any real Christians would want to start a crusade. It totally goes against the religion. If anything, it will be the Muslim radicals that start it.

I hear what you are saying but maybe we don't see it the way many muslims see it... Maybe this is the end of times for them. Maybe in our arrogance we don't see the full fledged war. Of course in reality we aren't marching on Constantnople (spell) but maybe in thier minds we really are. I don't know I am Catholic and hold my beliefs yet still see their side although I disagree with extremists

The way I see it, both sides are on the same fucking side.
Look at it this way: Radical muslim fundamentalists attacks western world. Western world wages war on muslim world. Muslim world suffers and runs to the fringes of muslim fundamentalism. Western world makes insane profits from sustained war. Anyhow I'll submit that my analysis covers only 1% of the bigger picture, but we need to employ heavy skepticism and doubt and question the motives of many people and factor in all likely motivations to arrive at a reasonable conclusion. By the way I don't believe for one moment this is about the prophesized end-times or what not, I don't believe in such unfounded superstition and I wouldn't urge anyone else to either. |

alladin sane,
just a correction..the theory that yo mentioned about a muslim killing 1 infidel going to heaven in incorrect. being a muslim myself, i can tell you for certain that no muslim goes to heaven without being judge daccording to his/her good deeds in this world. what you talk about i think is when the ayotollah khomeini from iran (who is a shiite muslim) said something remotely similar a few years ago if memory serves me correctly. but this is not part of scripture and is only some lunatics opinion. as for those jihadists, most of those are sunni muslims. OBL is a sunni muslim and follows the wahabi strain of islam, and most of the jihadists follow this school of thought. just thought id clear a few things up

A few comments on several postings, Not going to bother quoting but.. Islam is actully the second largest religon with a little more then 1 billion followers. Christanity still has the title of largest with ( I have heard over but I would guess its actully much less then this) about 2 billion followers. I dunno how accurute those figures are but I normally hear of christanity as being somewhat, though not necessarily that much, bigger. As for the crusades... I personally don't think they ever stopped. At any rate the entire issue with Palastine is definitely a form of the crusades that has been going on for atleast 60 years.
Lets also not be so quick to point fingers or place blame. I think there is enough blame to go around.
