Who wants to play capture the Flag tonight ? [NYC]

[here's the inspiration for my writings below]

For the fellow TFP'ers around in NYC, http://www.nygames.net/ has the info on a game of capture the flag going on Tonight, the 14Th, around 7:30 PM, in the West Village.

I'm jealous *insert jealous smilie here*

Damn, Cleveland usually doesn't have anything like this around - hmm...*brainstorming....*

Since this only applies really to NYC'ers, I wasn't sure if I should post this in the NorthEast section, but seeing that the last new post in there was 4 days ago, the needed exposure for people to see it] less than 2.5 hours remain before this begins] in the section isn't really there.

[so, mods feel free to move it if you think it isn't worthy of the general discussion.]
==========================================================

But on the other hand, this gets me thinking....

Has anyone ever played something random like that before - going to a centralized meeting place [probably cordinated on the internet] and participating in such an activity ? I mean, it's much more prevalent and accepted in USAian society [yeah, I made that up because 'American' encompasses two continents] for kids to meet fellow kids and participate in sports or activities in a loosely organized manner; than it is for adults. There are the night rec leagues where adults play basketball or a more mainstream sport, but the opportunity to play other games [i.e. dodgeball - although this is increasing in popularity in more trendier parts of the U.S.; capture the flag; kickball; and others] aren't really available.
I've occasionally longed to participate in such things [even as an young adult]

After reflecting upon this more, I've realized the internet has helped organize and allow such marginalized sports to become more accesible for adults; but the availability of these activities are usually confined to more trendier areas, where internet usuage is higher than the average, and there's a large pool of young[er] adults willing to participate.

This is inspiring me to maybe do something like this in my town....hmmm.....

catcha back on the flipside with my muses,
will.

I really want to play freeze tag with people from MPLS. Stupid games like that are so much fun and as a young 20 something professional it would be good to remind my self as well as others of our youth.

nice.. I've got something already planned for tonight so I cannot go.

but there's this which I've not played in a long long time

http://www.streetwars.net/
Quote:
Think you've got what it takes?
StreetWars: Team Killer – The Killing Begins July 25th
A round-robin, all city, 24/7 water-gun assassination tournament
Sign Up Deadline Thursday July 21th

What is StreetWars:Killer?
StreetWars:Killer is an assasination tournament. Read all about it and other Shadow Government activities in this New York Post article, or hear us in this CBC Radio One interview

At the start of the game you will receive a manila envelope containing the following:

A picture of your intended target(s)
The home address of your intended target(s)
The work address of your intended target(s)
The name of your intended target(s)
Contact information of your intended target(s)
Upon receipt of these items, your (or your team's) mission is to find and kill (by way of water gun, water balloon or super soaker) your target(s).

You can hunt your target down any way you see fit; you can pose as a delivery person and jack them when they open the door, disguise yourself and take them out on the street, etc.

If you are successful in your assassination attempt, the person you killed will give you their envelope and the person they were supposed to kill becomes your new target. This continues until you work yourself through all the players and retrieve the envelope with your (or your team's) picture(s) and name(s). Then you win. Cash…but first live in fear.
