New spam method (on TFP :( )
 

I just got a spam in my TFP Private Message. Now, TFP is mainly the only forum I visit, but this is the first time I've seen this method of spamming people. Has anyone else come across this on other boards?

I imagine many people got this message:

The classic nigerian spam, but the whole "through private message" bit through me off.

Banned....if in the future we see this happen....PLEASE report it immediately to a Mod/Admin.....thanx IC3/Latch.....it helps alot

i dont get ppl... they actualy take the time to set up an email, account and then send this bs.... wow. i'm glad mods/admins are banning these ppl to keep the board clean!

we should try to manipulate them into sending us money...

tell them we have to upgrade our account type to handle the large amount of money or something...

and then donate the money they send us to the tfp...

i've noticed a big increase in that type of spamming elsewhere. updating my blocked URL list is practically a daily occurrence on my own website. otherwise, i get 30-40 spammed comments and trackbacks a day.

what a mess. i don't understand how these people can make their living as parasites.

Damn, boggles the mind how long this type of scam is lasting. I thought people would have wised up by now. Fucking parasites.

Actually in seriousness, these scammers are giving the whole country of Nigeria a bad name. There are people on eBay who won't sell to Nigerians, and put disclaimers on their lots to that effect. And this must have been posted before, but this is worth a laugh:

Yeah, I got an email from one of these fucks who claimed that he lost his sister at the WTC and received a huge some of money from the victim's fund but can't access it because he lives outside of the states.

If they're willing to use Sept. 11th as tool to scam people, they don't deserve to live in my book.

One method I find frustrating is the combing of classified ads, like in the recycler or craigslist. I keep getting these messages that: I would like to purchase your {1990 Ford Escort}. I am in the UK and will arrange for payment...

That 419 site is pretty entertaining. Its amusing how long the scammers try to play the 'victim'.
