Oh No! A New Scrabble Dictionary!

Ok folks prepare yourselves. I am about to reveal the full extent of my nerdiness.

I am horrified that we all have to learn 4000 new usable scrabble words.

The OSPD (Official Scrabble Players' Dictionary), 4th Edition is out!

I just saw the thing in Barnes and Noble, but here's a link to the cheapest you can get it:
http://www.campusi.com/bookFind/asp/...dId=0877799296

Anyone know where one can find out what the new words are? Are there any additions to the 96 legal two letter words(like XI, XU, JO, HM, etc...)?

Any new Q without U words(older acceptables included FAQIR, QAT, QAID)?

Damn I feel much better that I have a forum to reveal this kind of nerdiness. If anyone wants to play some scrabble in New York, I suck, but I'm game.

That is pretty nerdy... however, perhaps the addition of words will help my game, cause I'm TERRIBLE at scrabble. I also can't spell so good....

I was refering to the fact that if played properly, (IE: over 2 triple word score squares) 'craziest' is the highest scoring word possible in a game of scrabble.

Where did you get your information from? craziest has a base worth of 19 points...

try quetzals for 26...talk about a scrabble junky!

I don't know where you can find out the new legal words for Scrabble. However, there is a documentary about the Scrabble tournament called Word Wars. It's kind of funny because all these people do is play Scabble. They don't even have jobs.
I love Scrabble, but don't have any of the stranger words memorized. However, if you wait awhile, chances are the list will be on the Internet. I found a list of legal words that were added in 1996.
Good luck!

A couple of years ago i got stuck in a caravan, in the middle of nowhere for about 6 months (long story....) and there was nothing there. Except a scrabble board and dictionary. We played about 5 times a day every day just to relieve the boredom. I now know pretty much every 2 and 3 letter combinations.

QUARTZ is a good one

my best ever scrabble word was "extraction"

"act" was already on the board, and I cleared my letters, and hit a triple word !!!

possibly the only game of scrabble I ever won.

'denizen' is a great word to pull...and good for a few good triple points if you hit right...first time I used it, everyone else thought it wasn't a word and since there was no dictionary handy, I called my dad.

My finest word was 'Eurasian.'

Does playing the word 'undead' reveal anything about someone's hobbies?
