is there a way to find out who owns a certain car by running their plate through a website that doesn't charge for it? i'm not trying to circumvent having to pay at a website, i just want to know if there is a free way to obtain this information. sadly enough, i keep seeing the same car at my girlfriends house and she says it just a friends but she won't tell me who. do ya'll have any ideas on how to go about finding who the license plate and vehicle belongs too? thanks

I can't tell you about Texas, but Oklahoma and Arkansas both require either a law enforcement official or a private investigator to disclose that information.

The information used to be public until the early 1990s, when the anti-Choice crowd started bombing Planned Parenthood clinics. The kooks would get license plates, have MVRs ran, and find out where the employees lived and attacked them at home.

Why don't you just 'pop-in' when the friend is there one day and see. If you're the bf, I'm sure an occasional pop-in wouldn't be unwarranted.

Also, if you're suspecting her, then going behind her back to find out an MVR is pretty sneaky, don't you think? What if it turns out that it really is a friend. There are some trust issues that you and her need to figure out.

In a lot of states, you can go to the motor vehicle department (MVA, DMV...) and request the tag information. However, there is a much bigger issue here... if you feel that you can't trust your girlfriend, perhaps it's time to move on. Either she's telling you the truth but you can't trust her, or she's lying to you. Regardless of which of the two is happening, the outcome looks grim.

i don't just walk into her house....but as for an update. last night, i was heading to the bars and decided to check out one that we used to go to all the time. guess who was in there? guess who was being "friendly" with another dude? so i walked up to her, she said she was sorry and i just turned around and walked out. we talked earlier and she fessed up to seeing this dude for a couple of weeks. no more girl for me.....life sucks

Im so sorry you had to find out that way...I know the pain would have still been there, but Im a firm believer that finding out in a way that shows she at least had some respect for you would have been better.

amen bobophil.....get this, i saw her and her new man at the horsetrack last week. damn, it sucked. she never came up to me or anything. i waved and nodded a couple of times, but got nothing out of her. that night helped a lot. it showed that she just didn't have any interest in me and that i need to move on and not hope that she'll come back to me.
