Correct shoe size?
Bought my first pair of shoes online a couple of weeks ago. Before that, I did some online research on shoemakers, makes, sizes, etc. I usually wear size 10 or 10 ½ at times depending on the maker. In order to prevent ordering the wrong shoe size I searched the web on correct foot measurement.
Almost every link I checked returned the same method: trace the outline of the foot; heel to toe as length and widest across your foot as width. Makes sense, I thought, then the instruction says to reduce the measurement (length or width) by 5mm or 1/5”, use this length to look up shoe size / width.
Now this doesn’t make sense. I know my feet swell a little as I exercise, especially after a couple of games of volleyball. I also wear thicker sports socks for shock absorbtion. Shouldn’t I add more length / width to get the correct shoe size? Poundering on the question for a couple of days then I decided to get the larger size. Luckily the 10 ½’s fit me perfectly.
