Did you file a police report?

Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime, I beleive.

That could very well be a store bought cap...most makers put a logo of some sort on their stock hubcaps.
Sorry that happened...kinda know the feeling having awakened to my VW engine torn apart, the car surrounded by burnt matches.

Crazy

my friend was hit in a parking lot and the guy fled. He found the car in the same lot later that week. Everything matched, it was dead obvious that this guy had done it. He even parked his car next to this guys and took pictures. Really obvious. He left his number on the guys windshield, and talked to the guy and he was a prick. Conversation made it real obvious that he did it...he kept changing his story...and then started crying when my friend told him that he called the cops.

It turns out this guy plays for our universities football team, and once the cops found that out they said there was absolutley nothing they could do.

Do you only have liability coverage? If you have Comprehensive coverage your insurance should cover it.

Otherwise you should look into community programs. I know some states - such as Michigan which is a no-fault state has a fund for accidents that are not your liability. Also there are often victims funds for people to get help at least until their insurance helps. Talk to your police station and talk to your social services offices they should at least be able to point you in the right direction. Do some searching on the internet for services in your area for victims of hit and run accidents.

The crime of leaving the scene of the accident falls squarely on the shoulders of the person who hit you... It wasn't meant for you at all. You've got pictures so that should be good, you might also want to talk to your neighbors to see if they heard and/or saw anything... reminding them in a nice way it could have been their car that got hit.

Or even if they noticed what condition your car was in - it might help to put a time frame on it... (Put on your Hardy Boys hat and get investigating

that's fucking LAME, dude.

sorry to say it looks like an uninsured, intoxicated driver was the cause of that.
the shithole probably lives pretty darn close to you. most drunk drivers return home along dependable, known-to-them (read: regular) routes.

good luck in your search, but sad to say, your chances of monetary recovery are slim to none.

PS, what size is that cap, 14" or 15"?

We got hit by some lame uninsured people who weren't interested in paying up. We had Comprehensive on our vehicle and our company fixed the car and then went after the other driver for the money. They garnished wages or something and managed to get us back our deductible in full eventually. The only drawback was that we were only getting about $50/mo but we eventually got it all back. I can see where you might not hold that kind of coverage on that vehicle because it's not a newer car or possibly bought on a loan. Still if an insurance company can get the money then I'm sure you could if you wanted to. Good Luck finding your culprit.

Sorry that happened to your car!!

I've had my parked car hit too, but luckily the woman was honest enough to come to my door and admit she did it. I live on a cul-de-sac and she was supposedly turning around and hit the gas instead of the brake. She put my car up on the sidewalk and totaled it.

Some dude hit my car (middle of the day) on the opposite side of the road. He had an SUV, mine was a sedan, so his bumper smashed into my grill. Needless to say, my car was fucked up. I only had liability but the dumbfuck didn't realize that his license plate came off and got jammed into my grill. All it took was a phone call to the local police, they sent a trooper out, and I tossed him the plate. Three and a half minutes later, they had the kid nailed.

My car just got hit and run on Thursday.

I went to work and came home and the back bumper had been smashed in. It's covered in yellow and white paint.

The City of Toronto had hired a contractor to do some patch work to my street and some of the others in the area. That day, they cut out a big section of road right in front of my car and patched.

There are machine marks from the patch right up to my car.

I come home and the bumper is all scratched to hell and covered in bright yellow paint.

Hmmmm, I wonder.

I called the City, but since Friday was a holiday and I didn't get home till 6:30 pm on Thursday, there was no-one there.

I am going to be calling them up on Monday.

This should be interesting.
