Wizard of Oz Dress sells for 250K

The blue and white gingham dress Judy Garland wore somewhere over the rainbow in The Wizard of Oz was sold for $252,000 Wednesday at auction in London, reports The Associated Press.

The dress, one of six identical garments created for Garland for the 1939 movie, went to a buyer bidding by telephone who did not wish to be identified, said Bonhams, the auctioneer. It had been expected to fetch $63,000.

''This dress represents the quintessential magic of childhood in the most beloved film of the 20th century,'' said Jon Baddeley, head of Bonhams' collector's department.

Garland, who was 17 when she portrayed Dorothy in the movie, died in 1969, less than two weeks after her 47th birthday.

Indianna Jones' jacket and fedora. Why? 'Cause it's just so damn cool. Maybe Bogey's hat and trenchcoat from Casablanca.

Oh, I get it. You thought I was gonna say Alyson Hannigan's flute.

I never answered my own question -- but ^^^ is what I would really want. Casablanca is probably my favorite movie of all time... and that hat is just sooo cool...

Second choice would be the hat that Bette Davis wore, when the ship pulled into NY in the movie Now Voyager... Not that I'd have anything to wear with it, but it'd be fun to just have.

there's a James Bond movie where he has a little helicopter that he can just put together himself with parts from 2 or 3 backpacks. Really a tiny little thing. But I always wanted it. Seems like the ultimate freedom (ok, if you consider some kind of infinite fuelsupply that you fit in your pocket too I guess )

I dunno. Something about personal freedom, even from gravity...

I'd want:

- Lauren Bacall's entire wardrobe from The Big Sleep
- The statue from The Maltese Falcon
- Grace Kelly's ballgown from To Catch a Thief
- This dress from Rear Window
-Gloria Swanson's' house from Sunset Boulevard.

Of the ten plaster and India ink statuettes that were created for the film, art historian and collector Hank Risan owns three.
Risan's three statuettes have been conservatively valued at over $1 million each, making them some of the most valuable film props to date.

The Illustration of George Lasso's the Moon, Clarence's book and Jimmy Stewart's Football uniform from It's a Wonderful Life.

Elisha Cook Jr's drum kit from Phantom Lady.

Jimmy Stewart's cast from Rear Window (good call on the dresses Lurkette... Grace Kelly looked smashing throughout the entire film).

Indiana's Jacket and Fedora and Bogey's Trench and Hat are excellent choices. I'd also like to have the letters of transit from Casablanca and the Arc of the Covenant from Raiders (It is a telephone for talking to God!)

I'd want some Models of Thomas the Tank Engine.

Models used in making Davey and Goliath (I don't know Davey).

Adam West's Batman costume with the belt.

I'd have to go with Forrest's shoes,
The Back to the Future Delorean
Darth's Mask
Jason's Hockey mask (and potatoe sack from the first one)

Freddy Kruger's hat
Haloween Mask

I guess I would have a good mask collection. Remember, themed collections are more valuable when grouped together. That, and they would look super cool.

My mom used to watch the show when I was very young, but I really don't remember it much. Do I remember correctly that part of the introduction credits was animated?

I would LOVE to have the real Millenium Falcon!

Of course it would have to be completely operational and come with an endless supply of gas so that I could drive it to work every day. Operational weapons systems are also a must. Who wouldn't love a set of quad laser cannons strapped to their vehicle for that morning commute?

The Millenium Falcon can't run on gasoline, and depending on where you live, you'd probably be attacked the first time you took off.
