Ouch,

What kind of fight do you have that results in waking up with a knife in your head?

Knife Pulled out of Russian Patient’s Head

MosNews

Doctors in the Voronezh region in Central Russia have pulled a 35cm knife out of a patient’s head.

Artur Dzhavanyan went to his neighbor’s door with the knife in his head. His neighbor, a nurse, immediately called for an ambulance, the Express-Gazeta newspaper reported.

Doctors pulled the knife out after a 40-minute operation. The head of the surgery department in the town of Vorobyovka, Viktor Tolstenko, said Dzhavanyan was lucky. “If the knife had hit his eye and his facial nerves, the consequences would have been tragic. Artur got off lightly with a small scar on his face.”

The knife was embedded 10cm under the eye and had pierced the cheek bone.

Dzhavanyan said he had met an old friend the day before, and they had been drinking at Dzhavanyan’s house. His friend started to complain about his problems, and later they started to quarrel a bit, but then they decided to go to bed. After an hour, Artur woke up with an intense pain and when he looked in the mirror he saw a knife sticking in his head. His friend had already left the flat.
And my favourite part:

Dzhavanyan is not going to press charges against his friend, the paper wrote. He vowed to punish his friend himself.

They started to quarrel .. a bit?

MooseMan3000 04-28-2005 03:29 AM

Ahahah... you have to love the drunk guy who tries to murder someone - someone who is sleeping, mind you - and can't even do it right. "You've crossed me for the last time, comrade!!"

la petite moi 04-28-2005 09:05 AM

Holy crap. How would he have continued sleeping long enough for his friend to leave....wow, just wow. And how did he call the police? I certainly wouldn't wanna move my mouth or face at all with that huge knife sticking out.

"Who needs enemies when you've got friends like these?!"

Paq 04-28-2005 11:02 AM

yeah, i lovedthe last part, vowed to punishe the friend hmiself...

Exactly what I was thinking. Hell, I didn't think it was a good night drinking unless I woke up with something new piercing my face and no recollection of how it got there.

This post shall be published, with the title 'why I got off the bottle.'

Am I remembering the size of a cm incorrectly, or was that knife a LOT closer to his eye than 10 cm?

cellophanedeity 04-30-2005 06:41 PM

Yes, it was much much closer than 10cm. It would need to be in his chin or forehead to be ten cm away...

But, the knife was 10cm under his eye, not from it! :D

Yeah, as in "The knife was embedded 10 cm deep, under the eye." Yowch. That's almost halfway through his head!

Supple Cow 04-30-2005 06:51 PM

Oh. Right. I don't know whether to say something about the sentence structure and lack of the word "deep", or to feel silly for not understanding what they meant anyway.

d3cemberist 04-30-2005 07:13 PM

Damn, that sucks for him. Brutal.
