Well if you put it that way... I guess if someone on their way home from the club last night went through the windshield, it has less to do with the Redbull and vodka and not wearing a seatbelt than it does with how hard an automobiles windshield is.

OSHA has already investigated and cleared us of any fault. Not that that means a court will, but... And we get sued for silly shit all the time.

What the real problem with an incident like this is, nobody wants to be the person who has to call someone's loved ones and give them that kind of news.

Oh I'm not saying we don't have other accidents, but the ones who go to the Dr. with carple tunnel, get something in their eye, etc. have not been as bad as the one who lost a finger and tested positive, or the one who lost an eye and tested positive or of course the dead guy.

THC is detectable long after the effects are gone. Just because someone tests positive for THC doesn't mean they are stoned at the time. All it means is that they've had some pot in the last week or so. If that's bad enough to warrant firing, I guess that's your right, but it's more anti-drug paranoia than an actual concern IMO.
I'd be more concerned if an employee came to work hungover over an employee that smoked a joint to previous evening. I've hired several dozen employees over the last 18 years and never had a problem with guys that smoke pot on occasion, but I have had major issues with workers and booze.

I'm all for a serious drug screening for dangerous jobs, like construction workers, or plane pilot. But for an office job..or something that's really that dangerous, there should be only a limit (of course if you come stoned to your office that won't be cool, but if you wanted to have a puff at a party, what the hell?)

But to keep it fair it has to apply to everyone. In our random program nobody is exempt. Not even the plant manager.
