The star wore the superhero's disguise when he made an unannounced visit to US Representative Elton Gallegly in Solvang, California.

He asked the politician's deputy, Steve Lavagnino: "How come Solvang doesn't have any fast-food restaurants?"

After Jackson was told the town's only eaterie was a Subway sandwich shop, the disappointed singer said he loved food from the Taco Bell chain.

The 44-year-old then pulled his disguise off and apologised for disturbing the office.

He signed a few autographs before roaring off in a black Bentley to a Taco Bell in a nearby town.

Mr Lavagnino says his boss in Washington DC laughed when told about the bizarre encounter.

He added: "It's very hard to top that visit. My first week in the office and I get the most famous person on the planet."

Solvang, about 140 miles north of Los Angeles, is a quaint village that bills itself as "the Danish capital of America".

I sure as hell wouldn't. I'd have a personal chef cooking my food and a supermodel serving it to me and I'd have the model blow me while I ate. :D

if i'm michael jackson and have the financial resources michael jackson has, i could build a friggin taco bell in my damn kitchen. i mean jeez... how hard does it have to be?

I betcha Macauley Caulkin is pissed off that wacko jacko swiped his mask. Imagine taking gifts away from someone after you've given them. Shame on Michael.

Wait a sec. Yeah, he's a loon, but not even I thought he'd be that ignorant. Obviously he thinks USA is a communist dictatorship. Why the hell would anyone build a Taco Bell right next to his ranch? It would be a lousy idea. The only customers would be Peter Pan from Hell and two paparazzi.
