Heh good thing I was already on the forum long before that was posted. Pretty funny though, I guess that's why post responses went wayyy down.
/edit heh I guess if you just scroll down a little you find the main page, didn't realize this until I read the source code and wondered why there was so much code for a few lines of text

You know, I spent 15 minutes using all the bookmarks I had to all the specific forums that I look at on a regular basis and checking to see if they all worked (which, obviously, they did). And I just sat there trying to figure out what lame ass court order failed to force you to actually take down the servers. I fail.
Edit: Also, nicely done. And I'm really glad I paused before firing off a hell of an e-mail to Hal trying to figure out how any of this could stay together. In the parlence of our times: pwn3d. |

Well done Hal.
But let's be honest, how long do you think you could live without us? There'd be an underground TFP movement in its beginnings before tomorrow. Though I believe the total number of posters today will be lowered... |

^ now that really would be funny, TFP has gone underground. If that had been link to it i would believed it hook line and sinker.

I was just about to post a thread asking people to post their favorite April Fools' websites for today, because I love finding them. TFP was the first one I found.
Of course, with Hal, we all know what "gag order" means...

You should have directed everyone to some NSFW web-site! That would have been a hoot!

Holy crap I've been in Vegas all week and I'm up at 5:00am on a conference call doing the usual "let's check out TFP while this bozo drones on and on" and then I get this:
Due to legal reasons, I have been forced to shut down the TFP. A gag order has been issued and I cannot talk about this case. It's been a great 3+ years filled with growth, laughter and togetherness. It's a damn shame it had to end. Hopefully I'll see you all again after this has been sorted through. - Hal Arrrrrrrgh!!! I blurt out without thinking about it on this call..."What the fuck???....oooops should have been on mute". There was a bit of laughter. Then I email maleficent who politely told me I'm a schmuck. Noooyce. Someone needs to bring me coffee. Sooon.

Okay, I have to admit I totally fell for it. Can we blame the time of day? Lack of coffee? Anything at all?
The truth is I'm embarrassingly gullible...it's a shameful thing, but I once even fell for that line about "gullible" not being in the dictionary. |

Got me too, I'll admit for a good 10 seconds or so, until I realized I could click on other links. Nice try, probably best attempt of the day!

Got me for about two minutes. I have the forum index page bookmarked so I never even saw the main page was up. I went to stickfigurepeepshow to see if some replacement was there, like the last time TFP went down. Then I woke up and remembered what day it was.

scarletleo pointed it out to me last night, so I talked to Hal and told him that I was pretty sure it was a prank and that I would keep quiet...and I did.

oh my godddd....At first I was like whoa that royaly sucks..
And then I was like, waiiit a minute how come I just checked the forums (from the mail notification links) and there were no problems? So yeah, maybe he really did get a problem, but fooled the legal system...and left the rest of the site running. so i went to general discussion. And I can't say I ever thought "April Fool's Day". Good one Hal, you got me. |
