I have hated the song "Happy Birthday" since at least second grade, but probably even earlier than that. I would have hated this event. I probably would have shrunk into my seat as far as possible, muttering incoherently and blushing furiously. I'm not sure where it would have gone from there.

sometimes the best thing you can do when you're embarrassed is to suck it up, smile, and enjoy the ride. One day you'll look back on it and laugh... maybe even be pleased with your audacity, freedom of spirit, and the courage to break out of the box for a moment.
I would never welcome that sort of thing, but I'd make the best of it and know that everyone meant well.
