Going To The Job Interview
So today I must endure one of the things I dread most... a job interview for a teaching position. I have my fancy black suit, conservative yet stylish tie, shiny black shoes, updated CV, and a buttload of nerves...
I've done this thing before. I should have it down pat by now, but I don't. I HATE job interviews. I hate selling myself. I hate having to put into a few cliched phrases that I'm a worthy candidate for a job. What I say in a 10 minute meeting in front of a bunch of suits IN NO WAY reflects what kind of a teacher I actually actually am. I'm competent. I'm good. But I can't prove that by memorizing a few phrases. AGH! But I do feel good today. I know this class I'm trying to get. I know the routines, the schedule, the school, the staff and the admin. I can do this job. So hopefully that carries through in the interview. WISH ME LUCK. :| |
Good luck Daoust!
I hate interviews too, the "great" cliched questions like "What do you see as your biggest strength/weakness?" Hope things go well for ya! |
"Well, my biggest weakness are these #*%(#^&@^ interviews. Next question?"
|
Good luck!!!!!

Good luck man, take heart knowing the most likely the person interviewing you hates it as much as you.. Let us know how it turns out!
|
Good Luck. Just be yourself!

Daoust I hope all is going/went well for our interview. I hate them too, but I've never had an interview for something as big as teaching! I hope that you are able to be yourself and get the job that sounds pretty perfect for ya! Let us know how it went!! :)

Here's the latest... I got the job. It's a maternity leave for a grade 5 classroom. I was very much myself in the interview, and although the interviewer said I was nervous he said I interviewed very well.
So that was interesting. Now I hope I like it! |
congratulations!!!!!

Congrats!!

Good luck!!

Congrats on landing the job Daoust! Lets hope you like it, and they like you!

I've had some many job interviews since I graduated college, it is ridiculous, and trust me these aren't positions I'd really like to do. You need to go to bed early to get well rested, trust me, I can tell the difference if I stay up too late. Eat breakfast so no noises occur in your stomach during the interview. No, "ummm", "uh", "maybe", give clear-cut answers and be yourself. People don't like fake-people, besides you'll look reasonably relaxed. If you don't know the answer to a question or can't give an example to something just say, "I haven't had the chance to experience that situation.". I'm running out of things to say, their are plenty of sites on the Internet to give advice.
Good Luck! |
