People tend to talk louder on a cell ohone than in conversation for a technical reason: They cannot hear themselves throught the earpiece. In land phones, a second signal or echo is bounced back throught the earpiece giving it a more natural sound. Not so in cell phones (something to do with signal or bandwith or something)

All true, and there is one additional element. If two people near you are talking loudly to each other, it is a constant level of noise. However, with one person talking loudly on a cell, the noise volume goes up and down. Each time that it gets loud, it draws your attention to it again.

I would definately be one to use these. They have been around a long time though. I remember when I was 16 working fast food. We would talk about getting one of these almost everyday.

Even though I hate cell phones, and would use one of these zappers in a heartbeat, I think that the people making and buying these should be fined. It is a crime, and I pretty big crime in my book. By blocking the air wavs you are stealing these peoples right to speech. I personally wish these people would just shut up, but they do have the right to speak loudly in public places. They should be able to retain that right w/o others interfering.

I got rid of my cell phone 4 months ago. It was the best decision I have ever made.
