Apparenty, the Fleet Center in Boston is selling a one day naming rights to the Fleet Center.

Any comments?

If Halx goes for it, I recommend "Titled Center" or something.

Drew at Fark ended up buying it. They are trying to figure out what they are going to name it right now. $2500 Bucks though is actually a steal for all the media it will generate, unfortunately i dont think there is a actual event going on the day the name will go up. Supposedly they were going to have a hockey game but not now.

If they allow it, it looks like they'll be calling it the "Fark.com UFIA Arena"

For all non-farkers, UFIA stands for "Unsolicited Finger in the Anus."

What is the Fleet Center?

It's the sports arena in Boston, used to be the Boston Arena, I think.

Used to be called "Boston Garden"

I though the Garden was torn down and the Fleet Center was put in its place.

Unfortunately it is going on the Fleet Center. Even when times were good (a.k.a NHL season) Attendence was painfully low. They were averaging less than 50% on good nights. I personally have played at the Fleet Center (youth stuff) but is was several years ago, and I don't remember the location. Anyone know if it is in a higer traffic area? Cause that is just too damn funny to miss.

The Fleet Center is very apparent to me when I've been in Boston. Going southbound on I-93 over the Zakim Bridge it is on the Boston side right next to the right side of freeway. You also pass right in front of it if you're on the Storrow Drive connector to/from I-93 and the Tobin Bridge.

I imagine a lot of people will see the temporary name.
