I have yet to be in an accident, so there's nothing to admit in that regard. I own up to things like cutting people off -- I don't do it often, but have no problem saying 'I fucked up' when I do.
I usually stop at yellow lights if I can do so, since that's proper practice. The last time I sped up I ended up blowing through just as it turned red. Luckily there weren't any police around so I didn't get a ticket, but I did apologize to Magpie, since it was my irresponsible behaviour and put us at (admittedly negligible) risk. I have since decided that I will always stop for yellow lights, since it's not worth the risk to shave a minute off my trip time. Driving is a complex task that most people take for granted. The important thing in my mind is that we learn from our mistakes, and one can't learn unless one's willing to admit to those mistakes in the first place. |
It's never been my fault because my car has been hit 5 times in the last 3 years, and I've never even been driving it when it was hit!
I don't understand people who hit parked cars, much less do a hit and run. the one car accident I was in and present for, also not my fault, as the cop cited her for passing illegally which is the whole reason she wound up taking the front drivers side of my car in to the ditch with her. |
