In response to this interesting thread ("Things you've lost" - http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=81805), I decided to create a sister thread on Things you've found.

What are the wierdest, funniest, most valuable, silliest and down right strangest things you've found?

I can think of many (and I wish I knew the story for them all).


A sexy G-string in the back of a taxi - slipped into friend's pocket at the pub to much hilarity.
A handbag with plenty of cash in it - returned to the owner.
A camera - never had the balls to develop the pictures.
A bag of ecstasy in a club - shared amongst friends.
A gram of coke under my bed - presumed lost and delightfully used (back in the day when... yadda yadda)
A working, but abandoned, pub sign - taken home and installed in our hallway.

I once found a bong in some bushes. I kept, cleaned and used it for quite a while. When I was done I put it in a box (like a plastic tackle box) and stuck it in some other bushes. It disappeared. I never did find out how it came to be in the bushes in the first place nor how it disappeared many moons later from the new location. Just one of those things I guess.

A pair of handcuffs in the back of my closet, that weren't mine... and I live alone.

a few years back, I was in a hotel in San Francisco, and had a Princess and the Pea moment, where I couldn't sleep, because there was something under the mattress. I got out of bed, lifted the mattress, and there was a small bag that had a white substance in it... I got dressed, brought it down to the front desk...(I honestly don't know what it was - but I got my room for free that week)

I was at a restaurant in Sydney, Australia, having a salad with a colleague, and I moved some lettuce on my plate, and found the biggest damn bug I have ever seen in my life. I called over the waiter, who promptly killed the bug and said, well, ma'am at least you know it's fresh....

A cheapie 110 camera, that I did develop the film on, and let's just say, it appears that Disneyland IS the happiest place on earth from what we could see in the pictures (I had them posted on a website for a while, then I got bored and deleted them all)

The previous tenants of a house I was renting left a chest with a bunch of towels and clothes. Among the stuff was a faded black chinese kung-fu style jacket (I'm not sure what the proper name for them is). It was good as new after I got it dyed and it quickly became one of my favorite articles of clothing.
I found a slice of combination pizza with nothing visibly wrong with it sitting on a paper plate on top of a newspaper box one evening. I pointed it out to my friends for a laugh, I forgot that one of my friends has very very low standards for what he considers edible... The pizza didn't make him sick, and he didn't contract any strange diseases, but I still don't think you should eat anything you find on the street.

I once found what I thought was a shell on a beach....only to discover it was a human tooth. GROSS.

I occasionally find forgotten money stashed in my coat or pant pockets, much to my delight.

Oh, and my coworker and I found $1500 dollars in the mail drop at work. The guy who lost it frantically called looking for it; we were honest and gave it back to him. He did give us $20 bucks each for being honest

BuDDaH has found a couple really nice digital cameras laying around. The latest being a Sony Cybershot point and shoot.. I think it's like 4mp. I dont find many interesting things.

I found a baggie full of individually wrapped crack rocks! Right in my front yard. I figure someone thought he was gonna get busted, and tossed them. And maybe he couldn't find them later because he was a CRACKHEAD.

I found two $20 bills next to a car in a parking lot once. I went into each of the stores in the strip, and asked who's car it was. Nobody spoke up, so I kept the money.

A couple years ago I went with hubby to some town in Indiana (don't remember) for his job. We check into the hotel which was your standard Motel 6/Red Roof Inn type establishment. Get to our room and everything is what you'd expect, bed neatly made, carpet vaccumed, fresh towels, coffee fixin's, etc..

After we we're settled in I decided to go get ice for our pop. I lift up the inverted ice bucket and lo and behold...an 8th of dope. I didn't smoke anymore but hubby did on a somewhat regular basis and was smiling like an idiot. Try as we might, we could not imagine a circumstance that would lead to a bag being stashed under an ice bucket in an unused or freshly cleaned hotel room!

That's the only memorable thing I can think of finding...or maybe unmemorable if you were to ask the hubby.

I found 20 dollars in the front pocket of a pair of jeans I was trying on.

Even if I did find drugs lying around somewhere, I don't think I'd use them. Never know what the fucks in it.

Found a huge black beetle in a large sack of ramen-like noodles once, and found a wallet stuffed with cash, and all sorts of things sitting around this year. I didn't even take a look in it because I knew if I saw all the money it was gonna be mine Ended up turning it in.

Back in 1991, just after my family emmigrated from the USSR, alot of my family's first furniture in the US of A was found next to garbage bins in our neighborhood. We found an old but working television set with aerial antenna, a coffee table, a huge kitchen table, several chairs, and a small bookshelf (that lasted us over 5 years), among other things. Lots of handy change and bills too, occassionally.

But the coolest thing I found was this multimeter thing used by the phone company for testing phone lines. I still have it. Its huge and antique-looking, in a stout leather case with straps, and actually works!

And love, of course...

I bought an old landscape picture thing at a flea market once. Nothing special except I thought it was pretty. After removing the backing to switch frames, I found a really old letter. I could barely read it and there was no date on it. I gave it to a friend who works at the library and she bought it for $10 to put in the library's collection.

I once found $20 in a pair of my shoes. But seeing as how they're my shoes, I must've put it in there to begin with.....

Hey Nefir, I found a multimeter too I was walking along with a friend when I was about ten and we found a plastic bag with a multimeter in a yellow leather case, I showed it to my dad and he still uses it now, eleven years later

I also found a wallet once during a lecture, I admit I did snoop through it but didn't take anything and didn't find anything particularly interesting, and I handed it in at student services.

In some old pants left in a gym locker (that I had noticed was there two semesters prior...) was some guy's wallet with bank cards, credit cards, driver's license and about 12 bucks. I made a few calls using his name/city and a phone book and ended up mailing him his wallet back to him with his own money.

I felt pretty good that day.

My pair appeared in my coat pocket between the time I showed up at a party and the time I left. It wasn't exactly a wild and crazy party, and nobody seemed to know where they came from, but months later, they're still in that pocket.

I'm going to stop here because I don't want to step across the fine line between finding and yoinking.

A few years ago, I found a coin purse with $97 in cash inside while walking through a parking lot with my husband on the way to lunch one day. We were in the parking lot where he worked, so we posted a sign inside the building for the owner to call and identify. A woman called a few days later, described the coin purse exactly and knew the exact amount of money. She was quite happy, and I was happy for her, but we were so broke at the time. I'm glad I wasn't tempted.

I found a gold bracelet in a restroom in the Des Moines airport. I took it to an employee who immediately took it saying it was hers. Maybe it really did belong to her.

I found a purse in a movie theater when we were leaving. I took this purse to an employee I knew.

I found a checkbook about a month ago, right before Christmas, in a booth at our local chicken finger hangout. I gave this to the employees who remembered the woman who had been sitting in our booth.

I found a camera in the gulf. Couldn't really return this. It was ruined by the salt water, so I just threw it away.

Last year in Nashville at the Music City Bowl, we were at the Opryland hotel and a small boy walked up to me and asked for help. Apparently, he had lost the young daughter of friends of his parents. He had become very disoriented in the place and couldn't remember which way he had been. While I was looking for security I asked an employee for assistance who was no help at all. This still irritates me. I stayed with him until we walked down the correct hallway and saw the girl with authorities and the parents. Those children were too young to be wandering around alone in that place.

ok, i have had some great finds!
i was walking off the beach one day and i went to put my used drink bottle in the bin and as i lifted the lid i saw ....... a sony digital componant amp (for a home theatre) and 2 componant cd players!!! i got them all home and they all worked perfectly!!! gotta be happy with that.
also found a old guitar (accoustic) it was pretty messed up to i smashed it to bits on stage one night! got a good reaction from that. i have also found a couple of hundred $ at a number of music festivals, people drop the stuff and .... well.... it's mine!

Found 20 dollars sitting on top of a bank machine in a corner store, That went into my pocket, after doin a quick shoulder check.

That's really the only thing i have ever found that was worth anything.

When I arrived at my current job and unpacked my boxes of office supplies, I found one of my wife's old bathing suits in a box.

I've thought about this a lot, and this is the only explanation that makes any sense: That particular box of office supplies spent about a month in storage along with some of our personal items. Somehow, her bathing suit crawled out of its crate, unsealed the tape on the office supply box, and crawled inside. And then it probably giggled a lot.

when i used to live in san francisco, some girlfriends and i were walking around, talking to bums, going to bars.. just all around having a good saturday afternoon. as we proceeded from one side of a neighborhood to the other, i found a series of four pictures - all of a black man bending over with a thong on... or from the front, balls hanging out.. really weird stuff. but four pictures! two on the same block, the other two on separate blocks - all of the same man.

When I was 16, I pulled into a convenience store parking lot in Lexington, KY and saw a round piece of brass on the pavement. When I picked it up and flipped it over I found out it was a Rolls Royce key fob.


It took me another 16 years or so to finally call the R.R. owner's club of America to search for the owner of the car (I figured they'd have a listing of cars by chassis #). The woman on the phone tracked the chassis number and said the car's last owner was a man in Cincinnati, OH but he had taken the car to auction some 10 years ago and the new owner never registered with the club. I was offered the auction house's phone number to continue my search but didn't think it was worth that much effort.

It's been a number of years, but I remember the lady on the phone told me that the car was a late 1920's model Rolls that was actually made here in America. I'm thinking maybe the chassis and drivetrain were made in England and a coach builder here in the U.S. made the body for it.

Anyway, a neat story and, as you can see, I still carry it on my keychain.

I found four toasters one evening... They were really cool ones that lower and raise automatically... had a very retro feel to them... The best of the bunch, after a thorough cleaning looked quite nice on my kitchen counter.

When I was a kid I found an envelope with some random notes and receipts... It was all gibberish. I used to imagine that it was meant to be found by a secret agent who knew how to decypher the encrypted messages... I kept it for years.

I found a stash of pornos behind the apartment building I lived in when I was kid... that was a score!

While driving on a gravel road out in the middle of nowhere in Central British Columbia, I came upon a $400 Sage flyrod in it's protective tube. Another km down the road there was a duffle bag full of fly fishing gear including 4 very nice wooden boxes full of flys, 3 Hardy reels with different types of flyline, a wading vest full of leaders and assorted gear, a nice little 35mm camera, a pair of binoculars, a nice stainless coffee flask, and a pair of Rayban sunglasses. About 2 km down the same road I could see a nice pair of neoprean waders lying in the middle of the road and althought they didn't fit me, they did fit a good friend of mine for $50 . I kept wondering when I was going to come across a nice float tube.
Alltogether I figured I scored over $2000 worth of fishing gear in less than 15 minutes.

When I was about eight and my brother was about ten, we found a Hustler magazine in the couch coushin in a hotel...it was awesome for about five minutes, then my brother came up with the crazy idea that we should give it to our parents...I didn't forgive him for a couple of years.

I have found so many things I've made an occupation out of it. I used to be the person to go to if you needed something, anything random. Toaster oven? Got three right here. New boots? These'll fit you. Wicker love seat? There's one on the porch you can have.

I used to work at a laundromat and one of my tasks was cleaning the dryers out. One year I actually constructed a christmas tree out of hangers, lint and objects found in dryers. I think it was the year before that, my mother saw this coat she really wanted in a store while we were christmas shopping. I couldn't afford it - I think it was $50 and being a student I just didn't have that. My mom was disabled and on a fixed income so she couldn't just buy it for herself. About a week or so later, I was cleaning out a dryer and I found a gold nugget! The thing had a loop soldered on top, like it had been a pendant on a necklace. I sold it and got $50 for it - exactly enough to buy my mother the coat for christmas. I am still so happy that I did that! I know that if I had just gotten myself something, I wouldn't even remember what it was now.

I found a silver women's watch, worth about $200. Perfect condition, no scratches at all, and I found it in the middle of the road. Still waiting to give it to the right woman...
Just earlier today I found a nice 70's style dress jacket on the sidewalk while doing my daily walk. It goes with my pair of bowling shoes and green dress pants. Something to wear should I venture out.

I was getting gas one time, looked down and found a bad with what appeared to be ecstacy in it. I dont know because I wasn't about to try it, but gave it to someone, and they said they had a great time with it.

I've found numerous cash vouchers at my job. I work at a dog track, so people leave money in the self service machines all the time. I've only kept the ones that were still there after the floor was closed though.

I found a fake Rolex one time, but I didn't know, so I took it to a place to have it looked at. They made me feel like an idiot, and I put it back for the next guy.

The very first "adult" type magazine I ever saw was one I found along side of the road when I was 10 or 11. It was a swinger/exhibitionist type magazine where people sent in explicit photos of themselves in an effort to hook up with people in their region. This was very much pre-internet so this type of thing was not as widespread (free pun) as it is now. I don't know what the name the name of the publication was because it was missing the cover, but one thing I distinctly remember was the first page was a "glossary of terms" that explained what things like "golden shower", "greek", "rimjob", etc stood for.

In the park I found a very nice gold necklace, the clasp on the back of it had become loose and probally fell of someone while having a picnic.

I found a baseball hat in a stairwell. I liked the hat a lot so I took it home and washed it and wear it from time to time.

I once found a 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo in the middle of an airports parking lot. It was just sitting there! I could not believe my luck. But when I wanted to take it home I realized that the owner must have kept the keys in another pocket and did not lose them. By the time I got to a phone to call a tow truck, the car was gone. Since that day, I always take my flat-bed with me.

I found a bank card once, already in a bank machine with the PIN entered. I couldn't figure out why the machine would not take my card then realized what was going on. I removed the card and was about to feed it back in and start putting in incorrect PINs to get the machine to eat it when the owner returned.

Found a bloody knife in the street near a storm drain (didn't touch it), found some sort of old, rusted revolver buried in the ground (gave it to a friend, he's a gun nut), found a skull of a cow in a riverbed, found some civil war-era bullets in a field, found a busted up Atari 2600 in an alley, found about $250 US in a envelope in Mexico (kept it, haha), and that's about all I can remember.
