Glee - who loves it?!!

I have recently re-evaluated my opinion of 'glee'. It needs to be said that I bloody love glee, and I think more people should relax and enjoy their own glee, and if possible the glee of others!!

If you agree with glee, post your thoughts here! Give examples of your glee, the time you had it returned to you, any discriptions of the particular emotions you feel during it, anything!!! :)

ps: dunno how many people use that word anymore so: "Jubilant delight; joy" http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=glee (not the "malicious satisfaction" part of it though, oh no no no...)

It's been a long time since I shouted out with glee....

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

The office manager of one of my clients first name is Glee -- and she's a class A bitch -- there is nothing nice about her - -I've wanted to shout at Glee - -but never shouted with her...

Obligitory one-liner: I thought about joining a Glee Club once, but their singing made me sad.

As for the emotion, fuckyeah! Glee rocks!

Boring anecdote: when I was in high school my Mom won $500 on a lottery ticket she had been given as a gift. It may not seem like much now, but she had been unemployed for about 6 months and our food stamps had just run out and we didn't have the money for rent. Then this. Rent and a trip to the grocery store. Glee.

I have never heard "glee" used so much in one statement.

Anyway, happiness is always a good thing. However, I think that I only really achieve "glee" after about 6 or so shots

I checked that definition, I still don't get it. Can someone explain, please? :)

My latest glee moment was when the books I ordered ages ago finally arrived in a big brown cardboard box, and I picked it up at the post office and held it in my arms. Glee! Then I took it home, put it on the kitchen table and opened it. Glee! Inside was packing paper in five different colours. Glee! And under that paper was my shiny books! Glee! I love getting packages in the mail, and I do love those books.

I was shouting with glee yesterday when my future mother in law bought ALL the tartan fabric we'd found at the store, a total of 24.25 yards, she wanted to make sure we had enuff for everything we had to do, and the store couldnt reorder this particular stuff.

Glee has been all around this week :)

warrrreagl 01-14-2005 05:24 AM

We have a new kitten in the home, and occasionally a bright, furry ball of glee will go tearing through the house at breakneck speed.

I'm quite content and happy. I do work to moderate my emotions. Glee is a bit off the scale for me. As far as I can tell, emotional highs are followed by emotional lows. I prefer most things in their fair to middlin' range...

ratbastid 01-14-2005 06:47 AM

I'm familiar with joy and delight... I don't know that I've ever had an emotion and then looked and said, "Hey, that's glee!"

Mephisto2 01-14-2005 06:57 AM

I'm surprised at the unfamiliarity with this word.

You don't describe something as "glee" or say "I feel glee".

You do something with glee.

For example, "She clapped her hands gleefully". Or "I jumped with glee".

It's a great word and I like it. I don't often act gleefully, but when I do I certainly notice it.

Perhaps we should start a thread on uncommonly used, but sorely missed, words? I should rather like that.

ART, are you suggesting that you avoid chances at the emotional stratosphere simply because it could likely be followed by a downer?

ARTelevision 01-14-2005 08:12 AM

warrrreagl, exactly so...

genuinegirly 01-14-2005 08:43 AM

I'm gleeful when I get to pay with theatre lights. It's even better when I'm working on a show with my guy.

degrawj 01-14-2005 10:06 AM

i honestly don't think i've ever felt glee before.

dobster 01-14-2005 10:09 AM

You guys!! Such a mixed bag! I really wanna see if we can help these people find the glee! No pressure, but try and think of a time when you've wanted to start dancing and grinning and squealing all at the same time. And if you can't, then be assured that the endorphin rush you get is just a beautiful thing! : ))))))

Glee = cant write. When I'm doing really well, my art production halts, so i tend to follow ART in moderating my happiness.
