So... What do you do?
I searched for a thread similar to this and couldnt find one, although i'm sure it could have been worded about a million ways, so very sorry if this is a repeat mods, please delete if so.
Now, done with the formalities, what do you do when you're not on tilted? me? I live in a one-bedroom house with high ceilings and wooden floors in Tucson, Arizona. I head shipping and receiving for a company that deals in home theater and night club A/V installation and service, but as you can all tell, i spend most of my work day hanging out here. At home, i dont even have an active internet connection (by choice rather than fiscal reasons: no car, no cable, no modem) I play and produce music(I own a few guitars, a set of turntables, a piano, keyboards, an Air-synth, a drum machine, and a computer with Protools*sadly without the board as of right now*) , i drink copious amounts of gin red wine and dark beer, read constantly mostly philosophical and political works, wander the streets and photograph with a few manual cameras a few polaroids and my new Nikon Coolpix5000 , one of my favorite pastimes is getting really high, putting on my studio headphones and riding my bike while listening to Air's album "Moon Safari." I write frequently always keeping a few moleskins around, and although i've never been that great i keep plently of painting materials around for when i'm feeling it. Whats up with you? |

Hmmm, what do I do? Well, I work 2 jobs, one for a large school district as a Network Technician, and another for a small internet marketing company as a Network Admin. When I am not at work, I usually just hang out with my girlfriend, play video games, read books, or tinker with computers. Recently I have acquired a Bass Guitar, so I have been teaching myself that at least a half hour a day for the past week. I am not very active, although I am trying to change that. I started a martial arts class, but have only been to 2 sessions so far. I would like to start being a little more active, maybe working out or something. I have also considered possibly picking up skateboarding again.

I'm a research administrator for academics who work in early childhood development and brain development. I get my work done in 4 hours/day and spend the rest of the day napping or goofing off.
When I'm not working or goofing off, I swing dance, do stained glass, train my dog, spontaneously remodel the house (our bedroom has been 4 different colors in the 6 years we've lived in the house; currently I'm laying peel & stick faux-stone linoleum in our 2 bathrooms), do crafty projects like paint a tapestry to hang over our tv cubby in the wall, crochet afghans for unsuspecting family members, sew clothes, read voraciously, study Elvish and Hebrew, watch Forensic Files, or shop for vintage clothes on Ebay. Or have sex with ratbastid, if I can pry him away from his new Treo.

My life revolves around beer, but in a good way. I am a professional brewer for a regional craft brewery. In my spare time I am a homebrewer and an occasional beer judge. I also spend a lot of time in the chat room of my homebrew club (www.brewrats.org). Non beer-related, for the last 3 months I have been learning to play the banjo, as it's an instrument that I've always wanted to play. And I love to cook, I do 95% of the cooking in our house.

Weird. I work for a life insurance company. In my free time I read, play guitar, band practice, smoke pot, and hang out with friends.

I'm a mechanical designer for a company that makes large observitory-type telescopes. It's the American branch of an Australian company so there's a lot of people with funny accents wandering around. When I'm not working I play video games, guitar (badly), read military fiction, watch history/discovery channel-type television, smoke cigarettes, spend time with the wife and kid. And sometimes make terrible MSpaint pics for a weird little web site. I'd like to get back into painting, but can't seem to find the time or inspiration.

I go to school full time at a tech school, working on my BS in Aviation Management. I also fly as part of my major. Currently working on my Commercial license.
I have a third-floor three bedroom apartment with two other pilots from my school. In no particular order, I: study, play Xbox, use my computer, surf, skate, snowboard several times per season, hang out with my roommates and brother, workout and drink. During the summer my schedule is kinda different. Substitute school for work and study for read. I have no time to read anything other than for school during the school year, since I tend to read in spurts.. If I start a good book, I usually neglect everything else and read the book all day every day until I finish it. EDIT: I also usually try to date girls during the summer time also. During the school year I have no time and no money, and I don't put forth any effort into meeting women. During the summer I usually meet girls as work and usually end up with a girlfriend for a few months. Last edited by Carn; 01-13-2005 at 08:47 PM.. |

I'm a student in Health Sciences and Linguistics. I volunteer at a Speech and Language Centre with 3-5 year old boys every Saturday. I live in a 3rd floor, 2 bedroom apartment with one of my roommates from 1st year (who after 2 years of talking to me about guys has decided that girls are better ). I'm the Yearbook Editor for my faculty and I'm on the students' council. I talk to my boyfriend who lives 2 hours away multiple times a day, through msn and the telephone. The rest of my time (which is not nearly enough) is spent on school work/readings/etc.

I scan documents into a database at my job. It seems easy, but its not. I work with 10,000 dollar scanners and 10,000 dollar software. I'm not going to go into the documents.
I have a 2bedroom 1bath apartment. It's alright, no noisy neighbors, on the second floor of a 3 story building. I play in a band called Dark Sunshine. Actually, it's more like 3 guys getting together one or twice a week to record songs. I play bass. I like drinking beer. But I havent drank in a while now. I also like getting high a couple times a week. Movies are so damned great while high. I enjoy playing PC games and PS2 games. Rome:Total War, Civ. 3, Ghost Recon, and Vice City are some of my favorites. So far, so good. However I'm looking to move up north in Washington. I can't stand California summers, I hate getting hot.

Spend most of the rest of my time as a pharmacy student. It requires a lot more studying then I'd like to do, which is...well...pretty much any.
I'm also a big fan of movies and beer.

Well, I do laundry, cook, sort of clean, etc. Change diapers, give bathes to the kids, taxi driver taking the kids to their things, moving man, etc.
I'm currently unemployed, and it sucks. Although there's a million things to do, I'd like to go somewhere everyday and earn a wage. I love my kids, but the not having money thing is killing me. |

I am a student at Oregon State University (GO BEAVS!). I'm a fifth-year senior majoring in English. If I'm not at TFP I'm usually at a forum for OSU, updating my LiveJournal or prancing merrily around the Internet. If I'm not at the computer, I'm usually at my friends' apartment watching their television and eating their food. If I'm doing student-like things, one can find me on the 5th floor of the library at the very back overlooking Jefferson Street, usually nose in book...or in the Malamud Room in Moreland Hall (that's the student lounge), also nose in book...or in the Commons, having lunch with friends...or in the yearbook office, learning how to use Quark and publish pages. I'm a staff writer for the yearbook and the secretary for the English Students Association. I have few hobbies--reading and writing are probably the main two. I read voraciously. Right now I'm in the middle of Moll Flanders for my British Novel class. I battle my friend in Jeopardy! every night and he has yet to snap my winning streak. I love trivia games regardless of the topic. I take any and every opportunity to exercise and expand my own intelligence. I also ride my bike a lot...it's helping me get into shape. I don't really like to go to the gym but I'm starting to make myself go anyways. I'm also in the midst of trying to decide what the heck I want to do after graduation. Eeek.

I work for a totalisator company at a dog track. Very boring job, but gives me plenty of time to read, or watch movies, whatever I'm in the mood for that day. Other than that I have my son full time, and my duughter quite a bit of the time, so I manage to stay busy.

I do normal student things: drinking, "dancing" (I don't know if what I do qualifies as real dancing), studying, classes, and all that good stuff. I also enjoy pool, reading about different areas of Buddhism (Zen is my favourite so far), meditating, and playing a sometimes unhealthy amount of Counter-Strike: Source, and/or Day of Defeat (was CAL-m, for anyone who would understand what that means).

I have the coolest job in the world: I teach history in an alternative education setting. When I am not there I horse around with my kids, cuddle with my girlfriend. When i'm not with family I drive to fast, read, shoot at stuff, workout, or wrench on cars. I do most of this with angry music playing in the background or nonsensical thoughts in my head

During the day I'm the manager of the nutrition department at a grocery store. After work I watch our son while my husband studies and then heads off to work. I want to go back to school since I dropped out. I also hang out in a trivia chatroom in mIRC, listen to music, watch movies, go to the gym, take my son to the aviary or zoo when the weather is nice, work on my website, clean, take care of our birds, and discuss our next trip with hubby (we always have a next trip coming up, even if it is a year away).

By day I design and write computer software and back up my team lead. In my free time I bike about 3000 miles in the warm weather, ski a bit in the winter, hike, photography, travel around the country, concerts 4-5 times a year, hang out with my wife, hang out surfing the web when I'm bored and tinker with software side projects that interest me and keep me sharp.
