Meeting people through Friendster
Have any of you met any people through friendster? And is it kosher to send cute and interesting girls you find on friendster an email saying "you seem interesting and I thought I'd see if I could get to know you"? People mark on their profile if they're interested in dating, but I don't want to come off as strange or sketchy.
I didn't really pay much attention to Friendster a year or so ago when I signed up, but at that point I was in a relationship (and friendster was super slow). Now I'm single, work from home in a new city, and I'm looking for new ways to expand my social network. Please share your experiences and thoughts! Thanks. |
I've met some people through it before, but it was under a different situation than you have (I worked for a presidential campaign in the 2004 election that used Friendster to help bring together volunteers a bit). I actually haven't stopped by there in awhile, I should.
Anyway, I think it's hard to give an answer on whether you would come off as sketchy or not. That probably depends on the person you're sending a message to. If you're not sending the message through Friendster I would definitely mention that you saw them there so they know where you're coming from. And well, take it cool, don't come off too strong right away, just see if they wanna chat. If they don't, they don't. |
Just Curious
What's Friendster? |
hmm good point. I just updated my friendster account because I'm kinda getting lonely also. It's about time I started meeting new people and
/shock! potentially start dating again. |

I've met one person through Friendster. She turned out to be crazy. No, really. Crazy. It's a cool site to find old friends and network with their friends. I was able to find some people I went to High School with and find out what they're up to which is pretty cool. If I were looking to meet people, I'd give it another shot. They can't ALL be crazy, right?
