Sweet couch, guys. Looks hazardous to getting things done!

I shouldn't ask... okay I will. Did either of you figure out how much time was spent on the legs vs. a taxi trip to any store with those cheap drill kits? :D

I like Robertson, or Torx (for higher torque apps), except on horizontal surfaces that'll see weather or abuse. Their recess is hard to clean out and makes for a real PITA removal. Try taking out a Robertson fastened deck with a smile. Phillips gets the nod for those situations. Funny, I hated Phillips screws with a passion when I was young. The multiple sizes vexed my limited tool selection to no end. I also didn't have the feel for how much force was required to keep the driver seated and always stripped the things. Now the dislike has shifted entirely to standard-slot junk that makes my Milwaukee useless.

Wow, nice couch.

I had a simliar war with my new bed recently.
16 screws, 16 nice carefully drilled pilot holes, one manual screwdriver, summer heat, 3 bottles of water and a whole lot of sweat and swearing.

The pain and suffering really makes you appreciate it after.

LOL the slot is the worst screw ever, I also like the robertson its the most easiest to screw in. I have never had a problem with Philips mostly because I used to build kitchen chairs and thats the type of screw we used to hold the legs on. But thats a different story

That is almost identical to the couch my wife wants (when we have some money).

Spindles is a genious. So basic, so helpful.
Great couch.

Hmmmm couch

I feel the pull of your ever so comfy couch....

Good job, yes pre-drilling would have helped. But you work with what you got.. right.

I must say.. I don't think I have ever seen a bit quite like the one there. You could probably nickname it "sparky". I bet it was almost hot enough to weld with once you guys were done with it.

Oh.. and the floors. Exactly like the ones in our house, it's uncanny. I will have to post them some day.

Sweet pad by the way! Good luck to both of you!

errrr... why even bother putting the feet on the couch? I never do it! Stuff gets lost under there, you have to clean under it... pain in the butt as far as I'm concerned. Just leave 'em off!

Putting the legs on actually makes it a tad easier to move. You don't have to work quite as hard at getting a grip on it, and there's less danger of injuring fingers when it's set back down.
