Googling Security Cameras
pulled this off another board,
if you do a search for inurl:"ViewerFrame?Mode=" in google, it pulls up unsecured cameras on networks, you can even move them. Ive watched someone work accross the other side of the world, and dogs in labs. People need to be more careful with there networks heh give it a go. Not sure on the legal ramifications of it but its damn fun ) |
Pretty nifty!
Legal ramification shmegal ramifications. If they're silly enough to let Google index it, I gotta think it's fair game. |
lode's o fun. thanks
|
Not the most "secure" security cameras. :)
|
A little creepy. But fun nonetheless. Heh, Google is awesome.
|
...well that certainly was interesting. but those dogs don't seem to be doing much:)
|
cool stuff.
|
haha yea its pretty neat but then I felt kinda weird... so I stopped lol.
|
that is frickin awesome!
*runs off to look thru more cameras...* |

It doesn't seem to be flash, or java.. it's just an animated graphic. Not sure how it does it. |
its Java, one of the sites asked me to install it
|
This seems like a slaughterhouse or something I don't really know maybe a farm
http://219.160.180.45:81/ViewerFrame?Mode=Motion A rabbit here http://ky-asuka.ddo.jp:3030/ViewerFr...ion&Language=1 Some type of temple here. http://60.38.255.136/ViewerFrame?Mode=Motion&Language=1 |
is there any way to zoom with these cameras?????
|
this is awesome, can u find a way to attract ppls attention with the camera and spook em?
EDIT: To poster above me. Some cams have lots of special features. I used one that had zoom and all this other stuff but it wasn't working and I forgot link. |
I wish, that would be great
|
you can spin the camera around.. that may attract their attention.. depending on where it is.

http://138.47.51.193/ViewerFrame?Mod...esh&Language=0 It's empty, and the other links seem to show that the place is closed for the night. |

Not these guys |

Loving this, thank you, Nafter and thanks for the links other folk.
Why do I find this so enjoyable?! Its just television, really. |
Quote:
Edit: That is apparently some of them do. Also when you find one in English, you can easily see what all the controls do. |
Quite possibly one of the best Google finds...ever!
|
creepiness ++1

He better get to working that mop because there is dog shit all over the damn place. |
haha just watched this guy come through with 2 bowls of food with dogs swarming around him
|
This one is odd, it's like a designer town being built, sat here and zoomed in on lots of things, pretty nifty.
http://70.240.128.81:82/ViewerFrame?Mode=Motion |
This is great, thanks for the post :)
|
This is SWEET!!! Nothing realy interesting, I found one of a hotel lobby, but forgot which one it was.
|
thats preety cool. thanks for letting us know about it.
|
Wow. That's just awesome.
Some kind of car lab. http://mechcam2.mech.uq.edu.au/Viewe...ion&Language=0 A beach. Lots of motion. http://219.164.243.86/ViewerFrame?Mo...ion&Language=1 Tennis Court http://cam30522.miemasu.net/ViewerFrame?Mode=Motion You can also fiddle around with the settings in the address bar. For example, putting "&Language=0" puts it in English. |
And I thought the LiveJournal image grabber was spooky. Whoa.
|
im still having fun with this...a whole day later, lol
|
Fun stuff!

i love these thing, they make you feel so powerfull
|
Its pretty cool to be able to see what happens on the other side of the world. I notice that some are night-time and some are day-time. Its not as much fun for me. I have dial-up. (slow motion)
|
Found this last week too :)
Here's a Japanese restaurant, with sound!! http://cam64000.miemasu.net/ViewerFr...ove&Language=0 I've woken the dogs up at Wanwan House too....hehehehe |
You can also google "/LvAppl/LvAppl.htm" for another type of camera.

Well, that has wasted hours of work time. Have to do something productive while I watch people.
|
Quite interesting
|
this is crazy, is this a certain type of camera, or just horrible network security?
|
I believe these are panasonic cameras of some sort. As far as security, I'd say securing them is possible as I've seen some ask for passwords, but I doubt anyone really gives too much of a shit because it isn't like they are government sites and shit.
|
I found one the other day that was at laurnce livermore national labs. I found that pretty disturbing.

I'm looking for it again but cant find it. I remember one of the presets was pointing at some sort of number display that was probably a temperture or something. I figured it was one of the national labs when one of the presets zoomed in on a monitor and the bottom of the monitor said the name of the lab (not on the screen but on the actual monitor). I went through all the ones i visited and can't find it at the moment. But i noted which ones are black so that I can't see anything. I will check those later.
Anyone see this place? |
It wants me to install "active x" - can anyone tell me what this is and what it will do to my PC?
|
Awesome! What would you do if you were watching one of these and witnessed a murder? Oooooh creepy!
|
these are really cool! Awesome Find. whats the coolest thing someone has seen?
|
It doesn't seem to be working for me, is everyone downloading the stuff it asks you to? Most of the ones I've seen are from "Kyusha Matsushita Electric Co., Ltd.". Just wondering if anyone knows if that would be a safe installation or not.

I didn't have to install anything, but have you tried installing java? I'm using firefox with java installed and it is working just fine.

Great find!! I'd like to see that live journal image finder thingy. |

absolutly none of these work for me. Any idea why?
|
From what I can tell, the cam (webpage) software is fairly smart. It serves you the page differently, depending on what setup you have. It may require Java, it may require to install some ActiveX applet (if you use IE, I'm guessing).
For the record.. I'm on Linux/Firefox.. and it didn't install anything extra (and didn't seem to load java or anything). I'm not sure how it's doing it then.. but it "just works", which I'm happy enough to accept. Spotila.. your post is useless without some info.. what OS/Browser are you using? Do you get prompted to install anything? Crap like that. |
Im using firefox and didnt have to install anything at all on either pc Im using (work and home)
|
there goes my productive day at work... kewl find
|
all the active x applets are so far so good. they haven't blown up my computer or anything and im not detecting any new spyware coming from them ... but my comp sucks so im going to a friends house to check more on the spyware factor ill post more when i know.
p.s. has anyone had anybody they were looking at look up at the camera... its creepy. |
This is really cool stuff!!
|
some of them work for me, some of them don't. sometimes the controls load but the picture is coming across as a broken link. i've downloaded everything they've asked with the exception of language packs. really fun stuff!
|
http://168.215.159.14/sample/LvAppl/lvappl.htm
Hub Caps and tires? I dare you to find a more boring camera.. Oh, and this camera type (searching for "LvAppl/lvappl.htm" like Fearless_Hyena suggested) appears to use Applets. So I presume you need Java to use them. In any case, I didn't need to load anything I didn't already have for my browser (Firefox). |

A ski lodge! Tons of people there getting on the lift. |
I haven't found any yet that show me anything...I might be checking at the wrong time of day.
|
This is an awesome find. Thank you and the gods of both mindless entertainment and low security.
|
as promised before i looked into it... they are perfectly safe. the applets you are requested to download are perfectly safe. (just to clarify i only tried about a dozen... not all of them :) )enjoy.
p.s. a guy in the restruant looked at the camera .... creeped my out A LOT! |
This is some research facility in Australia:
http://130.102.102.252/ViewerFrame?M...ion&Language=0 Funny, they have a school of information technology, but can't figure out how to enable security on their web cam.... |
did you guys hear about this?
you can actually Google unsecured webcams! cool and scary at the same time
http://www.boingboing.net/2005/01/04...secured_w.html |
Yes this does seem to work - for others who try it the blue links have to have a green link underneath for it to work.
|
Yea, pretty cool. There's another huge thread going on about it:
<a href="http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=79899&highlight=google+camera">Googling Security Cameras</a> |
Well looks like we created a buzz http://it.slashdot.org/it/05/01/09/1...id=172&tid=217
Seems now that google has put a stop to those searches. It was fun while it lasted :) |
thanks cyrnel for the link to the other thread. I initially did a search and didn't see it.
|
one of the coolest things i have seen in a long while...great post
