absolutly none of these work for me. Any idea why?

Latch 01-05-2005 12:59 AM

From what I can tell, the cam (webpage) software is fairly smart. It serves you the page differently, depending on what setup you have. It may require Java, it may require to install some ActiveX applet (if you use IE, I'm guessing).

For the record.. I'm on Linux/Firefox.. and it didn't install anything extra (and didn't seem to load java or anything). I'm not sure how it's doing it then.. but it "just works", which I'm happy enough to accept.

Spotila.. your post is useless without some info.. what OS/Browser are you using? Do you get prompted to install anything? Crap like that.

ShaniFaye 01-05-2005 03:57 AM

Im using firefox and didnt have to install anything at all on either pc Im using (work and home)

JasWalker 01-05-2005 07:07 AM

there goes my productive day at work... kewl find

ehh19 01-05-2005 11:45 AM

all the active x applets are so far so good. they haven't blown up my computer or anything and im not detecting any new spyware coming from them ... but my comp sucks so im going to a friends house to check more on the spyware factor ill post more when i know.

p.s. has anyone had anybody they were looking at look up at the camera... its creepy.

thingstodo 01-05-2005 04:07 PM

This is really cool stuff!!

bad jane 01-05-2005 04:32 PM

some of them work for me, some of them don't. sometimes the controls load but the picture is coming across as a broken link. i've downloaded everything they've asked with the exception of language packs. really fun stuff!

Hub Caps and tires? I dare you to find a more boring camera..

Oh, and this camera type (searching for "LvAppl/lvappl.htm" like Fearless_Hyena suggested) appears to use Applets. So I presume you need Java to use them. In any case, I didn't need to load anything I didn't already have for my browser (Firefox).

um I'm using internet explorer 6, java and activex are installed. Using XP Pro. It doesn't ask me to install anything just, has a white picture box with a wee picture icon in the top left hand corner.

roderickpsu 01-06-2005 07:39 PM

I haven't found any yet that show me anything...I might be checking at the wrong time of day.

TexanAvenger 01-06-2005 08:52 PM

This is an awesome find. Thank you and the gods of both mindless entertainment and low security.

ehh19 01-06-2005 09:02 PM

as promised before i looked into it... they are perfectly safe. the applets you are requested to download are perfectly safe. (just to clarify i only tried about a dozen... not all of them :) )enjoy.

p.s. a guy in the restruant looked at the camera .... creeped my out A LOT!

This is some research facility in Australia:

Funny, they have a school of information technology, but can't figure out how to enable security on their web cam....

aa1037 01-09-2005 09:53 AM

did you guys hear about this?

Arc101 01-09-2005 10:36 AM

Yes this does seem to work - for others who try it the blue links have to have a green link underneath for it to work.

cyrnel 01-09-2005 10:43 AM

Yea, pretty cool. There's another huge thread going on about it:

<a href="http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=79899&highlight=google+camera">Googling Security Cameras</a>

Krycheck 01-09-2005 11:12 AM

Well looks like we created a buzz http://it.slashdot.org/it/05/01/09/1...id=172&tid=217

Seems now that google has put a stop to those searches. It was fun while it lasted :)

aa1037 01-09-2005 11:30 AM

thanks cyrnel for the link to the other thread. I initially did a search and didn't see it.

the420star 01-09-2005 09:12 PM

one of the coolest things i have seen in a long while...great post

Munku 01-10-2005 07:59 AM

Ok, so who wants to find a company camera, that has a phone number in view, and give them a call... Phonebooth anyone? :P

Munku 01-10-2005 08:07 AM

Ok so far we have the following as searchable camera links:

inurl:"ViewerFrame?Mode="

inurl:"axis-cgi/mjpg"

inurl:"MultiCameraFrame?Mode="

"/LvAppl/LvAppl.htm"

Just to keep everyone updated.

Sargeman 01-10-2005 08:31 AM

This is one of my favorites at this time of the year.

mardi gras cam

I have been coming to this site for a few years. the closer it gets to Fat Tuesday the more people you see. The more people you see the more "stuff" you see.

appleseed 01-10-2005 06:01 PM

Wow that's pretty cool. I wish I knew what the heck I was looking at in most cases.

Munku 01-12-2005 02:20 PM

I agree apple, seems most of the cams are over in asia and are opposite times as most of us. A few lights is all we see!

Food Reef 01-12-2005 05:02 PM

Heh heh heh! I love this guy; I visit him all the time. He just left for lunch, and I scanned the camera round to watch him leave and he waved bye-bye ^__^

JasWalker 01-18-2005 04:10 PM
