New Year's Resolutions

I know, I know, they're lame, you give up on them halfway through January, but I was wondering, what are your New Year's Resolutions?

Here is a breakdown of mine.

- Plant (2) trees for the one I chopped down for the Holidays.

- Decide where I want to go with my life and DO IT! This one is broken down into about 10 smaller steps that I won't bore you with.

- Be a good uncle for the nephew/neice about to join my family.

- Send more Thank You notes, send more cards in general, and pick up postcards for friends and family from giftshops where ever I travel.

- Go backpacking twice a month.

- Even though I do not have any sort of camera, always have a disposable camera readily accessible.

There is a start, what resolutions do you want to accomplish this upcoming year?

Manic_Skafe 12-29-2004 04:57 PM

To be completely content with everything - this includes ridding myself of New Year's resolutions.

fhqwhgads 12-29-2004 05:00 PM

I started this one a few months early, but I stopped holding back. Complete honesty with everyone. So far, it's been working out pretty good. I've pissed a few people off, but the majority seems to appreciate the candor.

Scorps 12-29-2004 05:40 PM

I got a couple........................thats all I'm going to say!

Glory's Sun 12-29-2004 05:44 PM

my resolution is to be drunk on new years day.. I always plan that one.. and I don't have to worry about not accomplishing it

clavus 12-29-2004 08:35 PM

I'm going to try to get syndicated. That's my resolution. To try, really try.

mac03 12-29-2004 08:45 PM

My resolution is to stop wasting time thinking of resolutions

ThrasheR 12-29-2004 10:19 PM

don't be average

splck 12-29-2004 10:29 PM

I made a resolution many years ago ...never make a resolutions in the future. So far I've stuck with it..

bing bing 12-29-2004 10:58 PM

Why have so many people felt the need to rubbish this thread already? Anyway, since only cool people don't make resolutions, and I’m not cool, here are mine;

- To reach a stable body weight of ~90 kilos
- To eat at least 2 pieces of fruit a day
- Stop neglecting my abdominals
- Read more rather than waste so much time on the internet
- Pull straight HD's in the final year of my degree
- Get my average over 85.

high_way 12-29-2004 11:24 PM

i like this thread so fooie to all of you who dont.

well anyway here is mine

- get my life soughted out as to where i am going (much like kurty[B]) and
become myself again (ie get over the fact that my life took a 180 degree spin)

- save some more money for going overseas/moving (depending on which way i go with what i do)

- talk to/meet more complete strangers

- start some new sports, start meditation and start a radio course at the local volunteer radio station

- start up a local festival of music in my home town

- (this follows on from the one above) start up other festival type things (ie short crap film festival) and try to find a local coffee house where you could hold open mic nights.

edit:
- learn how to play guitar and become good at it.

Averett 12-30-2004 07:43 AM

I will reduce my credit card debt by $7,000. It won't be easy, but I will do it.

Tycow 12-30-2004 07:45 AM

To get my life sorted out... it's a bit messed up at the moment :)

Edit: Highway, I see that you've said you want to pick up guitar. I'd recommend getting a cheap acoustic guitar. Take it slow to start with, because your fingers will hurt when you start... but it's one of the most enjoyable hobbies around. :)

GraveTaker 12-30-2004 10:06 AM

Ever look into the SCCA, or other racing organizations (ie. Grassroots and so on). It really is not that hard, but getting serious into it can be extremely draining. If you can find even small time sponsors, and then keep your car on the road through some races it is not too hard to work your way up the ranks and gain more sponsorships.

- Getting myself out of debt, and getting two months worth of living in a savings account is another goal of mine.

Powderedmaggot 12-30-2004 02:23 PM

Clean off my desk.

present_future 12-30-2004 02:31 PM

- I will work on my abs more often.
- I will decide what I want to major in.
- Be a better friend.
- Become a more responsible drunk.

I'm going to quit smoking pot. Goodbye, Mary Jane.

Ace_O_Spades 12-30-2004 04:07 PM

I personally don't believe in resolutions... because I never keep them

New Years is just a time where i look at the pervious year, asess what I'm doing with my life, and make life choices based on that.

If I were FORCED to make a new years resolution though, it would be less of a pushover and more assertive in all aspects of my life.

I'm filing that one as a "long term goal" and not as a resolution... I think it's more meaningful that way.

yes Kurty[b] i have looked into the SCCA that's not the problem, the problem is that you HAVE to go to racing school before getting there and i looked into that also. It costs $3,000 cdn for a 3 hour session $11,000 for a week session not to mension that you must have all of the safety requirements done to your car including the modifications to make your car faster, then comes the manual and the racing outfit. Unfortunately i do not have the money that is recommended for all of this and so i can't compete. However i do race on some weekends doing SOLO racing with some friends of mine that got me into it which is just racing around a parking with cones for best time, each cone you hit = 2 secs to ur time and going off course = 200 secs. So for now that's going to have to do and i'm just hoping for a company to see me drive and hope for them to want to sponsor me, either than that, there's not much i can do for now. Also finding sponsors isn't too easy either because i had a friend who looked for some and he had to commit to go to about 90% of there car shows in order to keep them as a sponsor and i also unfortunately don't have that kind of time due to the fact that i'm working full time and then going to night school on tuesdays and thursday for the 2nd year of my apprenticeship.

I don't really make resolutions. I just kind of go with the flow. I don't say "ok, this year I am going to do this." It's more like, "ok, it would be nice if I could do this, so if it happens like that, then woohoo for me."

:)

ironman 01-05-2005 01:36 PM
