Really bad scam alert
 

I just got this in my inbox today. Is this considered spam? Sounds like a really bad scam. Do people actually go for this out of greed or something. Should I report this to someone? and what Dose "Will like to solicit for your assistance, but not to compel you to honor it?" mean

Will like to solicit for your assistance, but not to
compel you to honor it? I am Mr.Bello Galadima, the
Chairman of the Contract Procurements and Award in the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) of the
Petroleum Ministry. I got your contact while searching

ah, the Nigerian scam email. They are collectors items!

I cant imagine that anyone would take them seriously, but they have been around so long someone must I guess.

I once got one from someone claiming to be the daughter of some Nigerian official who had 10 million to transfer into my bank...

....and if you fall for that you may as well take your own kidney out after accidentally puncturing yourself with a needle in the coin return of a payphone while writing out a christmas card to a sick child with cancer

Lost track of how many I've gotten, I haven't got one in quite some time though. I kind of enjoyed reading them, always good for a laugh, and have also thought if anyone actually falls for them.

Um....er, this is legit but the contact information has changed. Please forward the account information to me and I will make sure the transaction goes smoothly.

I saw a web page one time of the only recorded case of someone actually scamming money out of a Nigerian scammer.

Basically, he told the scammer that his lawyer advised him to get the scammer to add some money into the account as a token of his good faith. It didn't have to be much. The scammer put $2.00 in the account. The guy then withdrew the money and closed the account.

The scammer got really angry and demanded that the money be given back. Ha! Can you imagine!? It was comedic gold.

I'm holding a check that one tried to get me to deposit for them.. I just had to see how far I could string this person along.. just like the Red Breast Order guy.

I once got an email from some guy claiming that he was a representative from the Nigerian Chamber of Commerce. He wanted to apologize for the scam being run by some people in his country and wanted to repay me any money that I may have lost to these scammers. He said that if I sent him my account number, he would deposit my refund in my account within 6 to 10 business days.

My friend received a Nigerian scam letter at work in the mail. It was a real letter, delivered by a postman. This was like 3 years ago, I did a search on the internet to see if this was a scam, thus I found out about the Nigerian scam.

Call me crazy, but for someone to just EMAIL YOU, someone you don't know, offering you $27 million dollars... it's not real.

I mean, I dunno.. I don't know how people actually fall for these scams.

Sorry to say but some people will believe "ANYTHING", you get what you deserve though.

I am of the thinking scam this is not. Nigeria of the People have influence and money the much. Often funds the transfer they do helping with the finances of poor people the Americans. Computer savvy they are and transactions the much they make. Most the honest and upright. Surely modalities with this you will help? Money for you the huge sum receive. Lucky I think you such generous offer receive.

Nigerians planted us the bomb!

This scam is really old- I remember my mother-in-law getting one of these kind of letters in the mail about 12 yrs ago. They actually had a friend in Africa so at first they thought it came from him. Luckily they figured out it was a scam quickly and didn't get taken for anything. I can't believe it's still around!

I am going to set up a random email address then answer his email. I like the ideas on the 419 website about reeling in these lads. I will keep ya'll posted

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a free e-mail account from which I do any communicating that's likely to get me spammed.

About a year ago, for no particular reason, I started saving all of the Nigerian scams I received. Lost interest when the sweepstakes winner ones started arriving.

Anyway, if you want some Nigerian e-mail scams, I could probably forward you fifty of them.

The scam stays the same over the years. Only the amount seems to change.

I cannot imagine this scheme even making sense to someone receiving the e-mail. Anyone dealing with such a large sum of money has all the help in the world he needs and would never contact a random person that he knew for help unless he was doing SOMETHING illegal already. I'd never want to get mixed up in anything that idiotic.

Strange the gall of some people to try stuff like this.

Considering that these scammers still bother to do this after years and years, they must also be receiving a fair amount profit from it - or at least enough to keep doing it. If I'm not wrong this kind of scamming was even done when there was only snail mail to use.

Yea I am going to not respond to it because it came to my regular email. I dont want some crazy ass nigerian coming around the world to kill my ass. I just got my first sweepstakes winner email. I am sure it is a scam too. If any one else wants to contact these scammers feel free. You may have already won.
